Chat Bot BroTip: Softening the Rate Limits Blow

Quick hack for anyone using AI chatbots.

Getting stopped by rate limits sucks, especially mid-conversation.

I've been using this simple continuation prompt that works across all LLMs.

When you see that "1 message left" warning:

  • Copy/paste this prompt in your current chat
  • Get a summary response
  • Start a new chat with that summary

Super simple continuation prompt. Works on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc. Takes seconds to use.

Here it is:

"Please provide a concise yet comprehensive summary of our conversation so far, structured as follows: Context & Goal: Summarize the main objective and any specific requirements of our discussion (1-2 sentences) Key Information: List essential technical details, data sources, constraints, or specifications mentioned (bullet points) Progress Made: Outline what has been accomplished, including any decisions, approaches agreed upon, or partial solutions (2-3 sentences) Current Status: Describe exactly where we left off and what was being discussed when the rate limit was reached (1-2 sentences) Next Steps: Identify what was planned to happen next in our conversation (1-2 sentences) Format the summary to be under 2000 characters while retaining all critical technical details. Avoid general descriptions in favor of specific parameters, values, or methodologies discussed. This summary will be used to continue our conversation in a new session, so please ensure it contains all information necessary for seamless continuation."

Helps you pick up exactly where you left off.

No more restarting complex convos. No more explaining things twice. Especially helpful for coding sessions.

Just a helpful hack from one AI user to another.

Save this for when you need it.

You're welcome.
