Championing Disability Rights: A Reflective Journey Through the Annual Report Dissemination
As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on a momentous event – the dissemination of the Annual Report on Disability Rights Fulfillment in Indonesia. This marks my second engagement with the collaborative movement known as FORMASI Disabilitas, dedicated to advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities.
On December 21st, amid the support of AIPJ2 and BAPPENAS, we convened in Jakarta to present and monitor the implementation of the national action plan on disability rights. Representing FORMASI Disabilitas, I had the privilege of highlighting key aspects of our comprehensive report. Bapak Dinar Dana Karisma from BAPPENAS shared insights into the progress of the national action plan.
This year's report encompasses a rich array of themes, including women and children with disabilities, freedom, sports participation, access to justice, risk situations, humanitarian emergencies, politics, employment, accessibility, health, education, and statistics. Each theme meticulously presents contextual information, policies, key findings, summaries, and recommendations.
Our report's analytical framework revolves around indicators gauging the fulfillment of disability rights, covering structural adherence to policy norms, the state's efforts in the process, and perceived changes and attitudes of people with disabilities as rights holders.
The journey of advocacy is a marathon, demanding steadfast commitment and unwavering spirit. We remain resolute in our pursuit, determined to see the full realization of rights for persons with disabilities. In unity, our voices resonate louder, and our shared commitment fuels the momentum for change. As we step into the new year, let us carry forward this torch of advocacy, ensuring that the rights of every individual, regardless of ability, are acknowledged, respected, and fulfilled.
