Career Journey
I studied Architectural Technology for four years in Dublin before moving to London, where I worked as a Technologist for an Architecture firm for almost 8 years before transitioning to the contractor side. This was a natural progression for me as my role was quite technical.
Did you always see yourself working in Construction?
When I went to university, I wasn’t fully sure what I wanted to do long-term. My background has always been very Art & Design focused, but growing up in family embedded in the construction industry, I had an innate interest in it. My career path has progressed naturally rather than something I planned out.

What have been some of your most memorable projects and milestones?
I’ve been fortunate to work on some very prestigious projects in London that taught me invaluable lessons that still stand with me today. Now, working as a Project Manager on one of the most difficult builds in London is really exciting and presents new challenges every day which keeps me on my toes.
What has your experience been like as a woman in the Construction Industry?
Overall, my experience in construction has been positive, but like anything, it has had its moments. Working in a male-dominated industry can be daunting at first, but I’ve had great mentors and colleagues who have encouraged me along the way.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in construction?
Go for it. There are so many different opportunities and career paths to be followed in this industry and young women should be confident in their abilities and what they have to offer.
