Business rule Implementation, A lot more than simple IT projects

A new business requirement is always an opportunity for the IT. There will be always multiple ways to solve a business problem but business should always think has there problem been addressed?

When the business decides to adapt Business Rule approach they must think that the ultimate benefit and control must rely with the business. One must consider below points for a business rule implementation.

• Who owns the rule

• Who Knows and manage the rule

• Are you making better decision

Who Owns the rule: The Business should be able to quickly manage, change, test and Deploy the Rule . All this should be done with No or minimum IT support. Recent Demonetization in India caused a shutdown of all the ATM across the country. Some One might say it is because a hardware calibration required at ATM machine. But remember the machines dint change just the implementation is changing now in last minute. Business was not ready for such a major change and it caused a major inconvenience to the customer.

Who knows and manage the rule: The entire Business rule project might not require system implementation. The Rules could be in code, Legacy systems, Various Regulatory Files, And in many cases in the mind of Business users. I have seen many businesses facing the problem where the person having the business knowledge has moved out. Such loss of corporate memory is affecting business worldwide. All the Business rules must be managed efficiently.

Are You Making better decisions: There might be many drivers for business rules. However, don’t let the fancy technical features cloud your judgment. Future surely has better and more fancy technology.. Hold true to your  business benefit . Stay focused to what you want to build. At the end you should be able to make better business decision.

Team and technology might change,Your Business vision Should not.
