Bore-Hole Sample Correction for Mud KCl Concentration Changes
--- Eight (8) Features and Benefits ---
(1) Corrections are added within same BitRun
The tool also named: Intra-Bitrun correction tool, means that corrections can be applied within one and the same bitrun. This voids the need to start a new bitrun to just manage KCl corrections.
(2) Corrections are based on Event Time-line on KCl% Change
Corrections are entered as an event timeline when the mud KCl concentration changes. Mezintel Gamma then correlates the timeline to depth values and corrections are thus applied to a corresponding depth zone of interest.
(3) Multiple Corrections can be Applied with same BitRun
Operator can choose to add multiple event timelines that represent significant changes in KCl concentration that necessitate progressive sample correction.
(4) Any Sample Can be Added for Intra-Bitrun Correction
Not just Gamma or Resistivity samples can be added for correction. Any affected sample can be added for correction.
(5) Time-Based Memory Imported Sample can also be Corrected
From feature (4) above, it follows that you can use the intra-bitrun correction tool to correct memory imported data as well.

(6) Intra-Bitrun Correction can be Done at Any time
Mezintel Gamma saves data in its raw state. Afterwards, raw data is corrected when downloading to show on charts, LAS report, WITS/WITSML, or PDF logs. This means that operator is never tool late in applying correction, edit correction, or remove correction altogether.
(7) Intra-Bitrun Correction Overrides All Other Corrections
Mezintel Gamma, first-Off, always checks to see if the sample is added for Intra-bitrun bore hole KCl correction, before checking to see other correction settings. If found, any or all other correction settings are ignored.
(8) Correction can be done via Scale and Off-Set
Intra-bitrun correction has two options for Sample correction, namely:
(a) SCALE correction, (b) OFF-SET correction
Thus, a sample raw value X1 can be corrected to X2 as follows:
X2 = X1*(SCALE) + OFF-SET
In KCl correction rule, the SCALE FACTOR is kept the same and only the OFF-SET is changed. The OFF-SET can be added or subtracted from the starting value = X1, depending on the +/- signed entered for the Offset.
Summary:
Mezintel Gamma afford a borehole sample correction tool for KCl concentration changes with benefits on flexibility for use with multiple samples, and multiple timelines with-in same a bitrun. And for just intime correction of real-time logged samples or for tool memory imported samples.
