Hyperglade’s RWA Hackathon, the BAOlympics - that took place on the 17th of September 2023, was a significant milestone in showcasing the real-world utility of Blockchain technology.
The hackathon brought together developers, industry leaders, and Blockchain enthusiasts from all over the world converging together for its demo day. The BAOlympics was an amalgamation of innovation-driven utility, based on Hyperglade’s BAO protocol, which is the open-sourced protocol on which Hyperglade's no-code platform is built.
Build on blockchain, with no blockchain experience.
The BAO protocol allows any developer, (regardless of their blockchain coding knowledge) to build real-world use cases using blockchain. This makes the technology accessible to all developers and product builders, which facilitates the creation of unique and diverse tokenized asset applications. Hyperglade's grand vision for the mass adoption of blockchain is to make the technology more accessible by cutting down barriers to entry - this was evident by the number of non-blockchain savvy teams that took part in the competition.

The hackathon witnessed two in-depth workshops hosted by our team that looked into the business use cases of the protocol, pitch training, and a technical workshop going over the development and integration of the protocol, finally resulting in the demo day - where the teams had to pitch their solutions at the vibrant Draper Startup House, in Singapore.

Solving problems, globally.
Teams from across the world, namely Australia, Dubai, Singapore and Sri Lanka came together along with over 100 curious attendees bringing an energetic atmosphere to the gathering - an official side event of the Singapore Fintech Festival 2023. The teams not only competed for significant prizes (over USD 30,000) but also for the chance to connect and pitch solutions to leading investors and industry experts.
Winner Spotlight.
Dramsky, the winner of the BAOlympics, introduced the Dramsky Whiskey and Wine Marketplace. This innovative platform leverages tokenization to enable transparent and confident trading among buyers, sellers, and brands. Securing second place was Properties with Jess, a platform aimed at transforming the real estate industry. It uses blockchain technology for tokenization, enhancing and streamlining transactions. CrEx, the Creator Exchange, claimed third place. This unique platform allows investors and fans to invest in an artist's future earnings, offering a novel fundraising method for content creators. The success of these platforms at the BAOlympics highlights the growing significance and practical utility of blockchain in serving a broad audience. The rest of the participants provided solutions ranging from gold reserve fractionalization platforms, decentralized exchanges, smart contract integration for sustainable road construction, and other real estate tokenization use cases. A notable mention goes to Perfectus Tech and its achievement in the Solana Integration category.
Hyperglade was honoured to have a panel of judges with rich and tangible experience - Pete Argent, Nicolas Gallet, Julian Low, Dr. Ruwini Edirisinghe, and Jonas Chen, who were central to the event's success. Their expertise and insights were key in guiding and evaluating the presentations. Additionally, the event was greatly enhanced by the support of our partners - Draper Startup House, TZ APAC, Metacamp, Cyberscope and Hatch Works. Their involvement was crucial in making the BAOlympics a reality, proving the power of collaboration and community in the blockchain space.
The BAOlympics was more than just a competition, it was a showcase of the immense potential of blockchain technology in addressing real-world problems. It left a lasting impression on all attendees, from seasoned experts to those newly acquainted with blockchain. The event marked a significant step in the journey towards a blockchain-empowered future, underlining the limitless possibilities of this technology.
