Before and After: The Power of Renovations
The thought of renovations can fill many home-owners with dread. Major renovations can be very expensive and go on for an extended period. Living with renovations is difficult and it’s often a good plan to move to alternative accommodation. But there are also many positives. If you absolutely love your position and your neighbourhood, updating your home may be just the ticket.
Shadforth Lythgo has plenty of experience with renovations and we love to see the transformations that are possible. We thought we’d encourage anyone thinking of doing a reno by showing you some rather stunning examples of what can be achieved.
The driveway … before.
After!
When people are considering renovations they are often thinking of inside – new kitchen, laundry, bathroom etc. But the exterior of a home is the face of your property and giving it a makeover will add value to your home and increase its saleability. With time, money and beautiful design ideas, the exterior of your home can be transformed.
Stunning timber features give this older beach home stunning street appeal.
Often a home and the land it sits on have huge potential that has not yet been exploited. If a home is getting old and tired, chances are with more up-to-the-minute building materials and trends the home can get a serious design update.
Living right on a canal was an excellent reason for these home-owners to renovate.
Some of the biggest design changes, particularly for homes on the Sunshine Coast, is the trend towards open plan living and the blurring of the lines between outside and in. Older homes often feature separate living areas – kitchen, dining, and lounge are all individual spaces closed in with walls. Modern homes are about space and flow and allow for a more relaxed lifestyle.
This renovation really opened up the home in a whole new way.
Original homes may have been built on a budget or built for a smaller family. Renovations allow you to maximise your space and your land to suit your existing budget and situation.
Renovations can really enhance the enjoyment of your home.
If you are tossing up between a new home or renovating your existing one, we can help. It’s often a good process to reimagine your existing home, with the help of a design-focused builder, to see just what is possible and at what budget.
