IATF 16949 follows the exact same structure as ISO 9001:2015 and includes 10 sections, with the meat of the requirements in Sections 4-10. The standard is aligned to follow PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and so a lot of the material is in upfront planning. 

Notice that the areas of the ISO 9001 standard (shown above) usually have I decimal place, in this case 8.4 is about the Control of Externally provided processes, products and services. The additional IATF 16949 requirements take the Section a step further and add additional decimal places, such as 8.4.2.3 to cover specific topics unique to automotive (e.g. Supplier Quality Management System Development).
