Agentforce 2dx: Ushering in the Next Era of AI-Driven Automation

Digital automations have long been a key driver of operational efficiency, however, traditional automation tools are often reactive, requiring human intervention to trigger processes and resolve complex tasks. At TDX’25, Salesforce unveiled Agentforce 2dx, the next evolution of its AI-driven Digital Labor Platform, which is designed to transcend these limitations. Agentforce 2dx introduces a paradigm shift, equipping AI agents with proactive intelligence to manage business processes autonomously, anticipate needs, and dynamically adapt to changing conditions in real time. This game-changing technology is set to redefine business automation, minimizing bottlenecks, optimizing workflows, and enhancing operational agility.

What is Agentforce 2dx?

Agentforce 2dx is the latest evolution of Salesforce’s digital labor platform, built to bring proactive, autonomous AI agents into the workflow. Unlike its older version, which was grounded in reactive chat-based interfaces, Agentforce 2dx enables intelligent AI agents to work behind the scenes - anticipating needs, acting independently, and integrating directly into existing data systems, business logic, and user interfaces. The core enhancements center around proactive intelligence, multimodal interactions, and an enhanced development ecosystem, which we will be discussing in detail here.

Agentforce 2dx: Proactive Intelligence, Real-Time Triggers, and Smarter Workflows

Agentforce 2dx combines agentic reasoning with real-time, proactive intelligence, creating a new automation standard that doesn’t just follow rules but thinks, adapts, and proactively acts to streamline operations, enhance efficiency and drive intelligent decision making.

Key Enhancements:

  • Agentforce API: Extend intelligent automation beyond Salesforce by integrating Agentforce into backend processes, third-party systems, and applications. Businesses can trigger AI-driven agents based on key system events, enabling seamless, real-time decision-making.

  • Agentforce Invocable Actions: Agentforce agents can now be directly embedded into the flows and Apex, thus, allowing the businesses to enhance their existing processes with agentic reasoning

  • Variables: With Agentforce 2dx, now variables are available to make conversations more personalized and dynamic. These variables can also hold values during a conversation, such as the result of an action, and help guide what the agent says or does next. This means agents can deliver more relevant responses, automate actions based on customer data, and create smoother, more efficient experiences.

  • Real-Time Data Triggers: Agentforce agents can now be triggered in real time when data updates occur, ensuring immediate actions without manual intervention and enabling businesses to stay agile and address critical changes instantly.

  • Tableau Next: It enables agentforce agents to tap into real-time business context through clear and organized semantic models. By leveraging Tableau’s enriched data structures, agents can deliver more accurate insights, smarter responses, and context-aware actions—enhancing both customer interactions and decision-making.

  • MuleSoft for Agentforce: Developers can now create Agentforce topics and actions in the MuleSoft Topic Centre using natural language. The MuleSoft API Catalog simplifies AI agent development by centralizing access to APIs from MuleSoft, Salesforce, and Heroku within Agentforce. With the MuleSoft Agentforce connector, developers can now integrate Agentforce into the existing workflows, trigger agents across systems, ensuring frictionless automation.

Now, let’s bring it all together with some real-world use cases:

  • Proactive Fraud Detection: Traditional fraud detection systems often depend on static rule-based frameworks and retrospective analysis, which can lead to delayed interventions. With Agentforce 2dx, AI-driven agents can analyze transactions in real time, identify anomalies, and take proactive measures—such as flagging suspicious activity or triggering security protocols—before fraudulent actions can occur.

  • Inventory Optimization: Conventional inventory management systems depend on static reports, leading to stock shortages or overstocking. By utilizing deep learning and reasoning models trained on real-time market data, customer behavior, and supply chain fluctuations, Agentforce 2dx can continuously monitor demand, adjust stock levels, and automatically places orders when necessary, ensuring businesses maintain optimal inventory without manual intervention.

By eliminating operational bottlenecks and proactively handling critical processes, Agentforce 2dx enhances productivity, prevents disruptions, and allows businesses to operate more efficiently with AI-driven, real-time automation.

Multimodal Interactions: Revolutionizing User Engagement

In the previous version of Agentforce, agents can only engage with users through plain chat. With Agentforce 2dx, multimodal interactions are possible now, allowing agentforce agents to engage through voice, text, and rich media interfaces across all channels. Moving beyond basic chat, 2dx delivers more intuitive, visual, and context-aware automation that enhances both customer engagement and internal workflows.

Key Enhancements:

  • Agentforce Surfaces: Announced at TDX '25, Agentforce Surfaces is an upcoming feature designed to intelligently deliver rich, interactive content across all digital engagement channels. It introduces dynamic components and media tailored to specific devices and channels, ensuring each Agentforce interaction is optimized for the user’s interface.
  • Rich Messaging Components: Announced at TDX '25, Rich Messaging Components is an upcoming feature which will provide customizable rich messaging elements such as buttons, carousels, and secure forms. These components will allow businesses to create visually engaging and interactive messages that align with their brand identity, improving customer interactions with the agentforce agents.

  • Lightning Web Components (LWCs): With the new ability to embed LWCs into the response from Agentforce actions, businesses can now reuse their existing components to deliver interactive, content-aware and more personalized experience.

Now, let’s bring it all together with some real-world use cases:

  • Guided Form Submission with Visual and Context-Aware Inputs: Agentforce agents can now use rich messaging components like secure forms, image uploads, and dynamic inputs to collect information in a structured and interactive way. Users can also be guided step-by-step with visual cues and voice input, ensuring accuracy and reducing friction. This reduces friction in processes like completing applications, service requests, or documentation uploads, thus resulting in higher completion rates, fewer errors, and faster case resolution.

  • Visual Troubleshooting and Step-by-Step Guided Support: Agentforce 2dx enables agents to resolve user issues faster by delivering interactive carousels, diagrams, and embedded components that visually guide users through complex steps. Whether it’s supporting the setting up of a new product, resolving a technical issue, or completing a process such as onboarding a new user, the multimodal interaction experience reduces confusion and improves first-contact resolution, especially for non-technical users.

By integrating multimodal AI interactions, Agentforce 2dx allows businesses to create more seamless, engaging, and efficient automation experiences, driving productivity and customer satisfaction.
