3 Things Positive Thinking Won’t Do For New Entrepreneurs
It is good to be positive, work hard, and believe that you will be successful when starting a new business and finally realize your wishes and dreams. But positive thinking will only get you so far.
1. Positive thinking won’t bring you clients.
Thinking positively will keep you hopeful, but will not bring you clients. There may be a certain population you want to be of service to, but they may not be able to afford your services. You have to go after a hungry market. People who already know they want your services and are willing and ready to invest in themselves and you.
2. Positive thinking won't get you noticed.
Starting out, especially if you are an introvert, you may be overcome by fear when you think about being around people and out on the world wide web. You can think positively about how you need to go to chamber meetings, give workshops, do training sessions, but until you take action and do these things, you will not move forward and grow. If your business is not growing, it is dying. Move out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there so others will know you exist and can be of service to them.
3. Positive thinking won’t pay the bills.
It is easy to start a business. You get a business license, create a website, get business cards, and set up a PayPal business account. None of these activities actually generate revenue. However, they do generate expenses. Having hope that clients will come is good for your morale, but it does not pay the bills.
Recognize that if you consistently are not able to cover your expenses, no amount of positive thinking will pay your bills.
