3 Simple Steps to Install GA4 On your Website

As we all are going to say farewell to Google Analytics 3 soon, it's time to migrate/upgrade to Google Analytics 4 to have some historical data. Google Analytics 4 is more powerful & event based tool which can be easily integrated on your websites or mobile apps.

You don't have to create a new Google Analytics account in order to migrate to GA4. You just need to create a new GA4 property & install the code on your website. Follow the below simple steps to integrate GA4:

Step1: Create a New GA4 Property

Login to your Google Analytics account and create a new GA4 property under the same GA account.

Next, enter property details. Under property name, enter your website name. Select the correct timezone & currency. Press next, skip business information and click create button.

Step2: Add a data stream to collect data from

Once you create the GA4 property, you will be taken to data streams tab. Here you will need to enter your website or mobile app from where you want to collect data.

Under choose a platform option, select web.

Next enter your website URL & stream name. Under stream name, you can enter website or your website name. Keep the enhanced measurement turned on & click create stream.

Step3: Install the GA4 tracking code & test

on the next window you will see the tracking code installation instructions. Navigate to Install Manually tab & copy the tracking code.

Login to your website, find the header file and paste the tracking code right after the opening head tag and hit save.

Now it's time to verify the GA4 installation. Navigate to debug view tab in GA4 property and open your website in a new tab.

If you have followed the previous steps carefully, you will see the events recording in debug view. If you're still unable to see data in debug view, install google analytics debugger chrome extension and reload the page.


Google Analyics 4 will automatically collect few user engagement data i.e page scrolls, file downloads, video interaction, site search and form interactions.

GA4 will take 24 hours to process the data and display in reports.
