When you think of KFC, you probably think of finger licking good chicken, but what about the people serving it? In the United Kingdom, over 30,000 team members work across more than 1000 KFC restaurants, with 65% under the age of 25, making KFC a major employer of youth. However, youth employment in the UK has reached a record high of over 900, 000, so KFC is on a mission to champion young people and help them overcome the challenges they face. In finding employment, the brand has created Hatch in partnership with Yums Unlocking Opportunity initiative, developed with the charity UK Youth and now run in partnership with the KFC Youth Foundation. Hatch is a free eight week program for those aged 16 to 24 that provides paid work experience, training and a guaranteed interview for a role at a KFC restaurant. Since launching, Hatch has helped over 1000 young people across the UK, with 68% of the candidates who completed the program. 2024 Finding some form of employment, education or training within three months. Through initiatives like Hatch, KFC makes a significant impact on the lives of young people, creating opportunities and fostering a sense of community and support, all while serving up delicious chicken.
