Are you looking for clever ways to reduce costs? When it comes to food packaging, there are several ways to optimize and reduce costs. Leveraging our innovative aluminium production technology, we are now able to offer new and cost optimized Ready2Cook® containers with clear business benefits. We have developed two of our most popular Ready2Cook® containers in optimized lightweight variants: - 00581 (178x136x34mm) can replace 00580 - 01024 (220x150x45mm) can replace 01026 Using aluminium packaging is all-in-all clever because the material is recyclable without loss of quality. In general, aluminium packaging is more lightweight compared to more traditional food plastic packaging. Latest 2025, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes on packaging with associated recycling fees are to be in place. These fees are typically calculated based on weight. With the new optimized lightweight Ready2Cook® 00581 and 01024 you can secure a lower recycling fee for the brand owner. On top, you help reduce the environmental footprint. To us, this is the most clever way to cost optimize. Let’s investigate your potential savings together. Plastics substitution and the opportunities for folding cartons and corrugated It’s generally understood at all levels – government, industry, and consumer – that plastic packaging should move (indeed, is moving) towards greener alternatives. Neil Osment, from packaging market research company NOA, explores the opportunities for corrugated and folding cartons, looking specifically at food packaging that needs a liner. #packagingworld #foldingcartons

Good vs. bad packaging. Today we received our groceries delivered at home and I had the chance to make a live comparison of good packaging against useless and waste. On the right side the corrugated carton bump protection for glass bottles made by BOTTA EcoPackaging, that helps to save a lot of plastic where it’s not really needed. Kudos to my friend Lara Botta, but you need to make it a little bit thicker and should add an adhesive strip to close also the top side, I lost one very desired bottle of beer because my toddler wanted to help at picked the bag upside down! On the other side two useless caps of olive oil bottles. These already come with the usual diffuser and sealed cap, but some marketing genius decided that the “nostalgia effect” cap would have been sooooo cool. I bet that at the end of the day nobody uses it and it’s wasted material: metal, plastic, rubber, extra weight for delivery, extra work for packaging. These are the things people should care about, not the use of plastic when it’s needed or proves to be a better solution. #food #packaging #plastic #paper #sustainability

𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 According to a new national survey of more than 2,000 US adults aged 18 and older conducted online by The Harris Poll on behalf of the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), 89% say water of any type from any source is among their most preferred beverage. That’s up from 83% in 2022. 18% are married to the bottle — they drink only bottled water. 72% drink both bottled water and tap or filtered tap water. Some 88% of bottled water drinkers have a particular packaging preference. Of those, 75% prefer to purchase plastic bottles, 16% prefer to purchase glass, 6% prefer metal cans, and 3% prefer paperboard cartons. The International Bottled Water Association reminds us that bottled water containers are 100% recyclable including the caps. With more brands moving to tethered caps by choice or regulations, those small plastic components will have a higher likelihood of being recycled with the bottle. #plastics #manufacturing #packaging #bottles

#FRUIT_LOGISTICA_BERLIN #BETTER_PACKAGING The #MULTIVAC_TopWRAP™ system is suitable for mushrooms and strawberries for example. Here the cardboard trays are filled and then sealed closed over three sides with a transparent film label. The proportion of plastic in the pack is under #10% . The label is also available in a cellulose version – so that completely plastic-free packs are possible. The adhesive is only partially applied, so that there is no contact with the product. The #L310 conveyor belt labeller is used for this packaging solution. It automatically seals the packs closed "on the run", and at an output of up to #150 packs per minute it ensures that the delicate products are processed quickly and efficiently. Both labellers, the #L310 conveyor belt labeller as well as the #L330, can be converted to different tray shapes and sizes quickly and easily, without any change of tooling being required. In addition to this, a zero-downtime version is available for uninterrupted labelling, as well as various automation options such as denesters, or product infeed and discharge units. “With our complete solution from one source, which comprises labellers, trays and labels, we want to offer the fruit and vegetable sector completely plastic-free packaging solutions, which are resource-saving and at the same time energy-efficient,” explains Ronald Helmel, Business Development Manager at MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection. “This means that today companies in the sector can already meet the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR).“

The transition period for products that include banned single-use plastics integrated into their food and beverage packaging ends on 31 December 2024. And from 1 November 2024, businesses will not be able to supply paper plates or bowls that have a plastic lining or coating. Members can find out more or register below. #APCO #Webinar #Plasticsban
