You hear me talk a lot about connections and building meaningful relationships with you community, don't you? 😅 And that is exactly what a bunch of Social Media Nerds did last week at connected. - Social Media Konferenz Frankfurt am Main. 😍 And there it was, the feeling of that’s my tribe. That’s where I belong. 🫶 From the speaker’s dinner the night before, to insightful presentations and deep-dive conversation – it was contagious energy everywhere to shape the future of online communities, engagement strategies and platform evolution together. A few of my personal highlights: 💡 Petra Arentzen 🤘🏻 serving the audience an incredibly funny and thought-provoking session on Social Media KPIs. No one makes KPIs more fun than she did in that room! 💡Kim Nadine Adamek 🚀 insights on Social SEO – explaining the future of Socials as a search engine to the point. 💡Frank Panser deep dive into Linkedin strategies made my to do list grow a lot. 💡 Vivian Trebst, LL.M. session on law and order on Socials making me wanting to become friends with our legal and GDPR team 💡And lastly Daniel M. Zoll 🦄 is just a sensation on stage, having the audience on the edge of their seats for 60 (!) minutes. I laughed, I learned, I marveled. That’s how it’s done, diggie! Because the agenda was so jam-packed with fantastic speakers and topics I couldn’t see all talks but I know this: This crew and this community is lifting each other up and helping each other out! So, I can’t wait for some 1:1 coffee calls with the rest of the bunch! ☕️ Lastly, Diana Riemer has shown us with her first ever conference (and a fabulously organized one at that): If you can dream it, you can do it! 👉🏻 On that note: Let’s shape a better Social Media landscape, let’s build communities together. #socialmedia #conference #community

"Where you been, dude? We hardly see your posts anymore!" Well, I have something to say about this... 👇 Social media platforms are powerful. They've given us the ability to connect and build relationships with people from all over the world. That has certainly been the case for me. Take Paul de Vries for example... He's a good friend of mine that I'm not sure I would have ever met if it weren't for social media. His influence helped shape what can only be described as a magical career to this point. (I look forward to seeing him again soon in Antwerp and Amsterdam for the #DCDW workshop where I'll be keynoting this fall - more about that in the comments...) But there is a pressure associated with social media that we don't talk about enough. The pressure to post 7 gazillion times per day lest we become irrelevant. The pressure to keep up with our perceived competitors because we're only see what's "post-worthy." The pressure to sound like we've got it all figured out, when really we're navigating the mess of life/work/spirituality just like everyone else. And then of course, the pressure of not knowing what to say and feeling discouraged... BUT!... What if we're missing the point? What if social media was looked at differently -- like a place to communicate and deepen relationships rather than just posting to talk at "followers?" What if we did more listening then we did talking? What if we invested more time engaging on others posts rather than worrying so much about our own? What would the impact be? On November 19th and 20th, I'm going to be sharing some of my most practical and common sense tips about how we can leverage social media platforms to get massive attention. - Attention that fosters relationships of trust. - Attention that adds revenue to the top and bottom line. - Attention that stands out and stands apart from the competition. This is going to be the most important keynote I've shared to date, and I can't wait to connect with dealers and industry professionals in Belgium and Holland to walk through it all.
