Archinect’s new State of AEC for July guides you through the latest analyses, indexes, and trends on how the architecture and construction industries are performing economically. As we reflect back on June and July 2024, we see continued declines in billings among architecture firms, in addition to a decrease in new on-site construction activity. Commentators on the business health of the industry are almost unanimous in voicing hopes that interest rate cuts, rumored to be announced by the Federal Reserve next month, may propel growth in design studios and construction sites alike. Read our full roundup of the month's economic and business figures on Archinect and share your own experiences of the AEC sector in the comments section below. When doing so, please tell us which U.S. Census region you are based in (Northeast/Midwest/West/South) and the size of your firm.

Transforming our built environment requires a new approach to designing and constructing buildings. We urge the next government to establish whole life carbon targets for buildings, focus on retrofitting our existing housing stock through a National Retrofit Strategy, and require Post Occupancy Evaluation for publicly funded projects. Collaboration between architects and the rest of the built environment sector is vital to share knowledge and achieve our objectives. ➡️ Read our priorities for the next government in our manifesto: https://ow.ly/5XSP50SjTkU

💡 Meshwork by Mesh Energy is looking really interesting next week. We work on some incredible projects at Mesh Energy but this one has always been my favorite case study of the bunch. With sustainability and a clear purpose as the keystones, what's not to like? Looking forward to hearing more about it next Wednesday, the 5th of June at 12:00pm. You can hop on the webinar for free, link below. #sustainability #webinar #BREEAM #builtenvironment
❓ Can you design in a way to replace negatives with positives such that a building is a tool in the work of healing from trauma? This was the task faced by Paul Bulkeley, Snug Architects and Mike Worthington, previously Snug, now People Architects Ltd, when leading the Hope Street project. 📢 On Meshwork by Mesh Energy next Wednesday we take an in depth look at a truly unique project, the recipient of the 2024 RIBA MacEwen Award in 2024 and such a force for good that a member of the judging panel was quoted saying "Hope Street is the only project that almost had me crying…we hear of the architect as being a doctor of space, and this is an example of architecture that is healing people". A resounding testimonial, and surely not a Wednesday webinar to be missed. Join us for free (as always) next week on the link below. 🕛 12:00 pm 📆 Wednesday the 5th of June ✍ Join in here: https://lnkd.in/enqceHhE
