Will Arctic Cat ever restart the assembly line? Arctic Cat had continued to lose more and more market share after they were acquired by Textron. Market share continued to decrease after the tie up with White River Marine Group, which put white-labeled and decontented ATVs and Side-by-Sides in Tracker Marine Group's dealerships, along with other retailers like Bass Pro Shops. While Arctic Cat has had some great snowmobile offerings over the years, their wheeled lineup never really caught on. It was common to see 4 and 5 year old machines in the corners of dealer showrooms, and many dealers terminated the brand as that was easier than selling them. It never really made sense to me why Textron purchased the brand. I'd had some dealings with the company through the E-Z-GO lineup, and on a good day it was chaotic. Inventory would arrive partially finished (we were the last 5% of the assembly line), and parts and service support was extremely limited. I am guessing that Textron made more money selling a couple of helicopters to the U.S. Military than the entire Arctic Cat brand earned during a full season. Powersports always felt like an afterthought. I always hate to see industry folk put out to pasture, but in this case the writing was on the wall. Honestly, I'll be surprised if the AC assembly lines ever restart. The cost to design and build competitive models is just too great. Not that Textron doesn't have the money, but they are a business, not a non-profit. This may be the last straw. What are your thoughts? Will their machines ever grace showrooms again? #ArcticCat #Snowmobile #ATV #Textron #EZGO #TrackerOffroad #WRMG

What more proof do the powerful need before they really do something? As much as I like to appeal to the personal responsibility of each individual, if the 1% of humanity that owns almost 50% of the wealth and controls politics and the economy doesn't want to do anything, then we are beyond help. But we have no choice but to do what is in our power. We have to be the role models so that the powerful follow us. Otherwise, history will teach us what happens to them. #climatecrisis #sustainability #climatechange #ecorevolution #esg

#30DayMapChallenge 2024 Day 11: Arctic The Arctic ice pack is the sea ice cover of the Arctic Ocean and its vicinity. The Arctic ice pack undergoes a regular seasonal cycle in which ice melts in spring and summer, reaches a minimum around mid-September, then increases during fall and winter. Summer ice cover in the Arctic is about 50% of winter cover. Some of the ice survives from one year to the next. Currently, 28% of Arctic basin sea ice is multi-year ice, thicker than seasonal ice: up to 3–4 m (9.8–13.1 ft) thick over large areas, with ridges up to 20 m (65.6 ft) thick. Besides the regular seasonal cycle there has been an underlying trend of declining sea ice in the Arctic in recent decades as well. #QGIS #Ice #Arctic
