We watch so many sports, but completely overlook one of the most valuable World Championships: *WorldSkills*. These competitions are the backbone of our industries, fueling the creation of high-value products and services. WorldSkills deserves much more attention and exposure, which is why I’m sharing it here. These essential skills drive the advancements in every sector. I did watch the event opening and closing at YouTube but where is the wide interest from TV Broadcasters!? WorldSkills Lyon 2024 just concluded, bringing together 1,400 competitors from 69 countries, competing across 62 categories like computer tech, auto painting, florist, welding, and much more. Known as the *Olympics of Skills*, it ran from September 10 to 15, drawing about 250,000 visitors. WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Opening Ceremony(10-15 Sep)💥💎 Last night, the 47th WorldSkills Competition kicked off grandly in Lyon, France. WorldSkills China, WorldSkills Hong Kong, WorldSkills Macao, along with skilled talents from around the globe, gathered to showcase their exceptional expertise and innovative spirit. The opening ceremony was filled with excitement and anticipation, featuring spectacular performances and touching moments. Delegations from various countries proudly entered the venue, displaying their unique cultures and values. Following the opening ceremony, the intense and fierce skills competitions officially commenced. Over the next few days, competitors will engage in various skill competitions, vying for the highest honors in their respective fields. Additionally, skill conferences will be held throughout the competition, bringing together experts and industry leaders from around the world to discuss new trends and future directions in skill development. Who doesn't love an international comparison? Here's an interesting one I heard from the Australian delegation in Lyon at WorldSkills 20024 last week... Last year there were 4.5 million enrolments in Australia in vocational, education and training courses. Australia has a population of just 26 million people – that is quite some going. How has that appetite and ambition for skills been driven? Whilst there is a well-established system of TAFE Colleges and HEIs, 76% of that provision is delivered by private training providers. Private training providers whether here or in Australia have the unique ability to be our skills systems' market makers. If as a country we are going for growth let's embrace rather than stifle that unique ability.  #SkillsMeansGrowth #ITPs AELP
