Thank you, Claudio Rojas and the whole NACO Canada team, for bringing together such an incredible group of founders, angel investors and leaders last week and for your ongoing commitment to strengthening and elevating Canada’s angel investing community. WEL’s Ariel Siller, Sally Morris, and Jane Tucker were so pleased to participate in vibrant conversations about the future of Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. We LOST! 😃👍🏽 Yep! We LOS...I Mean we LEARNED! 😉 After finishing 1st in Taiwan, Denmark and Vancouver in 2024, we faced our first big challenge at the Collision Conf x Investissement Québec x Lavery 🔥🙌🏽🔥Pitch competition. And you know what? We're grateful for it! 🙏🏽 Here are the top lessons learned: 1. Showing Up is Half the Battle: You can't win them all, but you can show up and perform your best every single time. Tacky but true AF! 💪🏽 2. Humility Breeds Growth: Losing this pitch was humbling. It reminded us that success isn't guaranteed and there's always room to improve our pitch and strategy. 🙂↕️ 3. Resilience is Non-Negotiable: Bouncing back and striving to do better next time isn't an option - it's an obligation. This experience has strengthened our mental toughness and persistence. 🤨 4. Gratitude Fuels Determination: Defeats often make you appreciate your achievements and the efforts of your team even more. I'm filled with gratitude to be working alongside this awesome crew. 🙏🏽 And you know what else? Right after the pitch, there was a line up of investors(over 20) that wished to join the Happly.Ai adventure. Now that's Crazy🤯! Shoutout to Chloë for the big win(Next AI Gang🫶🏽) and to Danielle, Charles of Ubenwa Health, and Pauline for giving us all a run for our money. You all crushing it! 🔥🔥🔥 A huge thank you also to the Investissement Québec team, especially Clara St-Pierre and Roch, for creating such an incredible platform for entrepreneurs and being superstars💫. Also, Ali El and his firm for supporting such an event. Lastly, Minister Christopher Skeete for speaking truth to power in expressing the importance of innovation and the power our elected officials possess in spearheading programs and funding for Quebec Changemakers. LOVE IT!🖤 Sean + Dinesh and myself plan on taking this little startup that could all the way to the moon🚀! If you are talented and want to join a fast-growing movement, reach out📞📱. We're scaling rapidly and hiring intentionally over the next few months, so stay tuned! 🦄🐪 #entrepreneurship #startup #win #gratitude #business #learning

In Africa, entrepreneurship is often viewed as a means to achieve financial freedom and success. Young founders, driven by ambition and a desire to make a name for themselves, may overlook the distinction between their company's valuation and their personal wealth. A raise is not equivalent to personal wealth. Founders must understand that their company's valuation and their personal finances are distinct.
