Congratulations to Dr. Nicola Gehri, Dr. Ali Amin, Prof. Dr. Michael Kraus and Prof. Dr. Walter Kaufmann on their newest article published in Structural Concrete, titled “Limit analysis and design recommendations for fiber-reinforced concrete subjected to shear”. The paper presents the application of the theory of plasticity to the design of fiber-reinforced concrete webs and proposes an efficient and mechanically based shear design model. Check out the paper for more details here: https://lnkd.in/dCBzAVSR #FRC #LimitAnalysis #CrackedMembraneModel #Shear #DesignModel

Question: As per IS 2911(Part 1/Section 2):2010, we can design calculate end bearing and skin friction for Bored Cast in Situ concrete piles. However, the formula for the calculation of ultimate load capacity of pile given in B-4 of Annexure B of the code (based on SPT N Values, Screenshot attached) is not used as a common industrial practice for pile design considerations. Why is it so? Responses are welcomed in the comment section as well as direct messages.

Is there a specific clause in the SBC code that addresses the equation for calculating the modulus of elasticity for high-strength concrete, or should we refer to the ACI 363R-10 report for this equation?
