New research has revealed that #whales adapt their songs in response to environmental changes, offering valuable insights into #ocean health 👉 https://ow.ly/2yGY50Vp0hp During the six years study scientists discovered a fascinating pattern: during a prolonged ocean heatwave, when food was scarce, whales sang less. As foraging conditions improved, their songs returned.
A whales changing their singing patterns is actually a concern I didn’t realize I needed to know. On a separate note, here’s a picture of a slide that was presented at COP16 in Cali. I’m a huge fan of powerful visuals, and this one completely blew me away, I just had to capture it. Apologies, though, I don’t remember the name of the speaker to properly acknowledge them.
Think we should do the same, I can't remember the last time I heard a protest song! 🐳
Genial
Insightful
Joseph Milhako, am not” starting rumours “. I refer you to this report: “investigation into large Whale Mortality by Offshore Wind Industry “ Lisa Linowes & Eric Turner. Take note.
Fascinating. They surely feel the stress of their environment changing for the use with warming oceans, pollution, and dying food sources. And to think their are still some countries that allow the hunting of whales for commercial purposes.
Wonder also if any serious research has been attempted into the impact on lives and communication & songs of whales & dolphins by the monster wind turbines? Believe in USA there is data?
And we haven’t changed our diet. lol
