The US has an opportunity to dominate the Paris #Olympics, projected to win 123 medals, according to Nielsen's Gracenote Sports. However, the gold-medal count will be closer with the US projected to win 37 golds to China's 36. This forecast follows the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where the US and China finished 1-2 in both overall and gold medal counts. The Olympic Games will be opened on Friday this week and I am very much looking forward to the games and great athlete performances. While the games should not be reduced to sporting success and medal count only, it is still a relevant measure to compare the sporting success of different nations. Nielsen's Gracenote has released a new and final virtual medal table shortly before the games. The top three positions are covered by the United States (112 medals), China (86 medals), and Great Britain (63 medals). The host nation France is expected to come in on fourth position with 60 medals. Germany is expected to win 35 medals which is equivalent to rank 8 in the virtual medal table with two medals less than at the Tokyo games. The 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris officially get underway (competition actually started on Wednesday) today with the most ambitious Opening Ceremonies ever conducted. What most people won’t be thinking about (and brands interested in marketing around the Olympics need to be) is that today not only marks the start of the Summer Olympics, but it also comes just 561 days before the start of the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. In recent times, there has been a steady growth of #Chinese brands partnering with major international sports rights holders. However, unlike some of its counterparts with more illustrious deals, #Peak, has slowly slipped under the radar. Peak was involved in sponsoring no less than 11 National #Olympic delegations at this year's Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024, including those from #Brazil, #Belgium and #Serbia. They have backed this up by establishing #sales & #distribution capabilities in those countries it sponsors as well as other key markets. The Olympic Games 2024. On Friday 26th of July, the Summer Olympic Games in Paris will start. I have some hopes and wishes for this event: 1.     The IOC bans Israeli athletes from participating. This will proof to be illusion. The IOC ignores or denies the link between politics and sports except when it comes to non-Western powers like Russia. Despite all their infringes on the sovereignty of other nations in past decades, the USA were never banned from the Olympics. The IOC is western-biased for sure. It is time for a Chinese IOC president. 2.     Most countries will not show up with their athletes on the Opening Ceremony. If only 1, 2, 3 or 4 countries do this, their athletes might be banned from participating in the games. If most countries do this (as a prelude to the refusal of athletes to compete with Israeli athletes), Israel might be banned from the Olympics. 3.     Israeli athletes are encouraged to take a stand against their government by not showing up. The ones who show up in games are officially representing their racist and murderous country. Athletes from all other countries refuse to compete with them. In those sports, Israel will automatically win all medals. My gold medals will go to all those athletes who refuse to compete with Israeli representatives and Israeli athletes who do not support their government.

Italy to host 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games — IOC The decision to award Italy the right to host the prestigious amateur event, which takes place once every four years, was made by the IOC at its 143rd Session in Lausanne, Switzerland GENEVA, January 30/ Italy has been selected to host the 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) press office said in a statement on Thursday. The decision to award Italy the right to host the prestigious amateur event, which takes place once every four years, was made by the IOC at its 143rd Session in Lausanne, Switzerland. "Dolomiti Valtellina 2028 will be the fifth edition of the Winter YOG," the statement reads. "Competitions will take place only in existing venues across three clusters in Valtellina, Trentino and Cortina, returning to some of the iconic sports venues that will be used for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026." The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will also be held in Italy, in the cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. The event will take place from February 6-22, 2026. "The 2028 YOG will be part of the Milano Cortina 2026 legacy, and will reinvest in communities with strong winter sports traditions," according to the IOC. Commenting on the decision to award Italy the right to host the 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games IOC President Thomas Bach said: "The election of Dolomiti Valtellina 2028 is an expression of the IOC’s confidence in Italy’s ability to deliver world class, exceptional winter sports events." "The Olympic Movement and the host regions are already excited about Milano Cortina 2026, with just over one year to go until the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," the statement quoted Bach as saying. "Today’s news means that excitement will extend until the end of the decade, and the benefits for local communities will continue."
