I recently read an article, "5 Ways to Improve Patient Access," by Michael O'Connell, which includes patient metrics, team-based care, call center triage, scheduling, and a concierge line. The method that stood out to me was team-based care. This collaborative approach brings together healthcare providers from different fields to manage patient care better, promoting collaboration among doctors, nurses, and specialists. Research shows that when healthcare providers work in teams, patient outcomes and satisfaction significantly improve (Pais et al., 2020). The benefits of team-based care are impressive—better communication, more efficient resource use, and improved patient outcomes. It allows healthcare systems to utilize the unique skills of various team members to improve patient experiences (Reddy et al., 2018). Studies found that 100% of patients, pharmacists, and 92% of physicians were satisfied with this model (Pais et al., 2020). What methods do you think are most effective in improving patient access?
