Hey brokers, use the advice below to avoid the double brokering fraud! 1. Verify the Carrier's MC across many platforms. My team usually go with Carrier 411, SaferWeb, BrokerSnapshot. 2. Carefully review all paperwork, including the Authority, COI, and W9 form. 3. Check the domain of the dispatcher's email. If it does not match the company's domain, confirm the dispatcher's email and phone number by dialing the number registered on Safer Web. Book the load with them only after confirming that they are an approved dispatcher of the Carrier Company. 4. Request a truck and trailer number and include it on the rate confirmation. 5. Request a copy of the driver's license. 6. Request the VIN; it would be ideal if it was included on the COI. This is despicable. We have known all long there are false reports all over the platform. Now that Brewer has gone on record to admit it, brokers, stop feeding the monster! If you want to sanction a carrier, file a claim; report the carrier to the OIG at DOT; DNU the carrier. Just because a broker has a bad experience with a carrier does not mean that one broker has the right to decide for the entire industry if the carrier deserves to operate or not, and that is exactly what participation in Carrier 411 signifies... That the broker knows better than anyone else if the carrier deserves to operate. Last time I checked, that is DOT/FMCSA's job. I appreciate OOIDA's effort, but it's been done.... Carrier Assure launched a service for free for carriers to report brokers. What impact has it had? Also, Where is Cassandra Gaines? Is there an update as to how many brokers have been sanctioned by carriers, and how many brokers have felt pressure over the reports? Darren Brewer (CEO of Carrier 411) claims that in the next few months a similar version of Carrier 411 designed for CARRIERS to report on Brokers and Shippers will be launched. It's a paid service, but again, how much of an impact will it have on brokers? If you want to check Carrier 411's power, eliminate the Section 230 protections. Once they lose protections under Section 230, and they become liable for libel against carriers injured by 'deleted" reports, then you will see the importance of Carrier 411 and FreightGuards will start to go away.
