🌍 How does your country fare with civic space? In 28 countries, civic space is considered ‘closed’ according to the CIVICUS Monitor. CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation. This trend of shrinking civil society space is increasing around the world, and the United Nations wants to act through the draft Declaration on the Right to International Solidarity. With numerous crises to navigate, ever more countries apply repressive tactics, increasingly denying civil society to participate in regional, national and international decision-making processes. 👋 5️⃣ Global Perspectives 2024: Truth, Trust and Technology. 📢 Session 5 is happening now, looking at how we can build effective narratives to counter anti-rights groups and foster human rights. Our Solidarity Action Network (SANE) community is shifting the focus towards narrative-building as a critical strategy to counteracting harmful narratives spread by anti-rights actors that threaten the progress of Civil Society Organisations and their advocacy for human rights. This book is dedicated to the memory of late Professor Christof Heyns. Something to be proud of: debut of Meute Agency BXL's work in Politico’s Brussels Playbook! Where research done with FNF Human Rights Hub in Geneva about Gen Z and human rights was featured. The Gen Z survey provides critical insights into how young people view democracy and human rights: 88% believe human rights should apply to everyone  Yet, only 62% think democracy is the best way to govern  And just 40% feel their own democratic systems are performing well This mix of commitment to human rights and skepticism toward democracy highlights a clear challenge: building systems that inspire trust and engagement among younger generations.
