VR has vast potential to extend quality learning. The way animations & videos facilitated learning few years back, VR can extend the same with immersive experiental learning.

This is Jones Middle School at an LOTC district competition. LOTC is a Texas middle school leadership program. This team is marching based on AFPAM 34-1203, AF D&C, but has been poorly trained. At first glance you might not see the problems, but the more you concentrate on their techniques, the more you see they miss the mark. AF armed element or flight D&C procedures are taken from TC 3-21.5 with AF techniques. ℹ️The commander should be at Sling Arms. ℹ️The commander should be using the command "Flight, Halt" and not "Drill Team, Halt". ℹ️Rifle manual is close, but missing certain specifics (e.g., left arm crossover for Order). ℹ️The command to go from one shoulder to another should be given on the right foot to keep the arm swing coordinated with the feet. ℹ️The guidon bearer's technique for going to Present is inaccurate, arms are brought overhead on the command Present. ℹ️Half Step is executed with a heel strike. ℹ️Commander should call Column Left, remain facing the flight while marching in place, and as the center of the formation passes in front, perform a Left Face-in-March and march at Half Step until you call Forward. ℹ️Alignment, spacing, footwork need work. The expectations of the adults produces utter garbage like we see here. Everything is wrong and the cadets haven't a clue as to what a standard is. I don't know what school this is that is failing at leading and training the cadets. When you give a, pass to not meeting a standard, you are part of the problem. I'm not talking about doing the best with what you have at the moment and trying to improve as you move forward, that's different. But to say "oh well, they didn't meet the standard(s)" makes you the problem. Stop arguing with me about this (you tiny handful of people) because you are dead wrong. We are raising a generation that can pick and choose the standards which they maintain and/or get "close enough" to whatever standards. I'm positive there's a better way to render honors and pay tribute to a retiring shipmate @ntag_red_river @red_river_pao How on earth could anyone in their right mind think that twisting off the top half of the flagstaffs and only uding them to present the colors would be even remotely acceptable. This was sent to me with a question about short flagstaffs. Depending on the situation there are different staff lengths and different flag sizes to fit displays, but a Navy color guard doesn't have flagstaff options, there's only one type, ❌you used generic, civilian office static display only flagstaffs. ❌One length, 9'6". ❌The team got the Carry technique incorrect. ❌You have fringe on the national ❌along with a gold cord and tassels. No one bothered to ensure the team was ready to render honors by looking at MCO 5060.20 and NTP 13B. I enjoy seeing this stance from these Canadian Air Cadets from a few years ago. It shows a certain fun "attitude" that a drill team needs. However, communication here isn't clear. Do you see why? Because of the variation of technique. The stance I really get a kick out of is the cadet second from the left. Her lead (right) foot is pointing forward, which gives direction for the attitude, the right knee is slightly bent, trail leg straight, shoulders and hips angled to the front, head cocked to the left with her chin elevated just a bit. She has an excellent stance. Contrast that with the others who have many similarities, but don't quite complete the look. It's the lead foot, mostly, that creates the confusion in the communication process. Even though this pose was only held for a few seconds and the audience probably enjoyed it along with the rest of the performance, it could have been clearer creating more impact. 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! Actually told to me a few years ago. Please think on this: your team "beat" other teams at a certain competition on a certain day and time. You had so much time and certain equipment with which to work. Most likely, not all teams were there. Winning is fun and a great achievement, but had anything in that short list above changed, the outcome might have been very different. Competition matters because it's about being better than you were yesterday. Your team is different - not necessarily better - than other teams. Its not about "beating" or scoring better than others, especially since most every judge out there is only reacting in a "like/dislike" thought process, which is completely normal! Others may not have facilities to practice or maybe their team can only meet twice a week for a total of three hours. While your team practices 10 hours each week. Do the best you can with what you have, that's all anyone can ask. If you are not doing your best all the time, you have no one else to blame. 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! Cpl. Gage Barbieri, a United States Marine Corps automotive maintenance technician, was attending training on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) at the manufacturer, Oshkosh Defense. During the training, he discovered a critical omission in the maintenance documentation - there were no instructions on how to properly reassemble the JLTV's steering column. Barbieri realized that if the steering column was put back together incorrectly, it could cause the steering to bind up, leaving the vehicle essentially immobilized in a combat situation. This hidden flaw had gone unnoticed by everyone else up to that point. After raising the issue, Oshkosh updated the JLTV maintenance manuals to include clear visual guidelines on proper reassembly. This simple fix cost very little but could have prevented catastrophic failures and potentially saved many lives. The Marine Corps estimates this proactive measure will save over 900,000 man-hours of maintenance labor and $140 million in lifecycle costs for the JLTV fleet. Cpl. Barbieri's attention to detail and commitment to vehicle readiness was recognized with a Meritorious Service Medal. This story highlights the importance of hands-on training, thorough technical reviews, and empowering junior NCOs to identify and resolve critical issues.
