Today marks two years of the brutal war in Sudan. Sudan is today the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world, a living nightmare for children. Without urgent action, this dire crisis could tip into greater catastrophe. Violence against children, hunger and disease are surging. At the same time, displacement continues to disrupt lives, access to families and funding are shrinking, and the May – October rainy season – which often results in disruptive flooding and a surge in malnutrition and disease – looms. If the world doesn’t act now, Sudan risks losing an entire generation. With partners, UNICEF is doing everything it can to deliver aid to children and their families in Sudan. But it is not enough. To be able to reach children across the country, we need unimpeded humanitarian access, secured humanitarian routes, respect for international humanitarian law and increased funding. Most importantly, we urgently need a cessation of hostilities. The children of #Sudan cannot wait. This war must end – now. © UNICEF/Abdulmajid
