An interesting use case of RP and RQA! 😊 Applying both text analytics and RQA to Trump's first inaugural address last 2017. Have a read and let me know your thoughts :) 🚀

President Trump Grants Sweeping Pardons to Jan. 6 Defendants In a historic and highly controversial move, former President Donald Trump has granted pardons to nearly all of the 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. This sweeping act of clemency fulfills his longstanding promise to pardon those involved in what federal judges and prosecutors have described as an attack on American democracy. The decision has reignited fierce national debate, with supporters praising it as an act of justice for individuals they believe were unfairly targeted, while critics argue it undermines the rule of law and accountability for one of the most significant challenges to the nation's democratic institutions. Legal experts and political analysts are weighing the broader implications of the pardons, questioning their impact on future prosecutions related to political violence and the precedent they set for presidential clemency powers. As reactions pour in from across the political spectrum, it’s clear that the legacy of January 6 continues to shape America's political and legal landscape in profound ways. What are your thoughts on this decision? Share your perspective in the comments below.

The thing that struck me about this farewell speech, somewhat unexpectedly, is how horribly anachronistic it was. Discussions that have become familiar over the lifetimes of every living person--point and counterpoint about accomplishments and failure, policy and pain points, prices and wages, jobs and taxes, immigration and endemic racial conflict, communism and capitalism--all seem quaint and starkly irrelevant. For the first time, or at least the first time in over a century, America is about to be thrust into an oligarchy that makes democracy indistinguishable from authoritarianism if not frankly pointless. It's absurd to speculate about what will unfold over the next two years. Nobody really knows what the outcomes will be. Scenarios along the way most likely will involve historic drama in which billionaires, foreign and domestic, battle each other for absolute power. Most of it probably will be theater to distract the masses who have become addicted to distraction from the existential abyss of unconstrained avarice that is as unsatisfying as it is, by definition, insatiable. At the same time, I am reminded about the strength of equilibrium that tends to resist imbalance with forces proportional to departure from equilibrium until and unless there is catastrophe. If oligarchy renders democratic politics irrelevant, then resistance will take other forms. Workers and consumers must play along if oligarchs are to have their way. Resistance can be brutally difficult, but it is not futile. Value can be created and exchanged outside the arena of capitalism that oligarchs control. Values can be animated in civic action rather than rancorous public rhetoric. Neighborliness can overcome civil war at the level of communities. One thing that almost all of an evenly divided America agrees about with unparalleled passion is that we are about to experience a transfer of power in America unprecedented in the life of every living person. Sources of power will emerge, collide, and be tested. Every single person's role in what unfolds will define their legacy. Much of it likely will be fodder for repudiation and remorse. Hopefully there also will be a future that includes space for truth and reconciliation.
