Dear LinkedIn Community, Happy Friday, Two months ago, despite a great start at Tech-Huset A/S, I made a conscious decision to clear my calendar, process the turbulent last few years of my career and regain a clear vision for my future that has led me to a new and exciting chapter: I’m starting my Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design this September! 🎉🎉 Above my expectations, I managed to set everything in place ahead of time and now I've got some time left, and I would love to get back to work. However, finding a short-term job opportunity is challenging without my network's support. Therefore, I would deeply appreciate your help if you or anyone in your network knows of any opportunities or have any leads. Here’s what I bring to the table: Architectural Technologist Skills: I can handle drafting, 3D modeling, and coordinating with project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. Communication & Collaboration: I thrive on working with architects, consultants, clients, and other stakeholders to achieve our goals. Problem-Solving: I enjoy tackling challenges and finding effective solutions during project implementation. BIM & Visual Programming: I’m proficient in BIM design clash workshops using Autodesk software, and skilled in Revit. Technical Knowledge: I have expertise in building structures, materials, design, building regulation applications, structural reports, energy frameworks, and fire strategy documentation. Additional Skills: I’m skilled in architectural submissions, 3D presentation techniques, research, design strategies, building inspections, and user surveys. I’m also familiar with business canvas and innovation toolbox methodologies. While these are my strengths from past experiences, I would also love to delve more into the architecture and design side of things to better prepare for my upcoming studies. If there's mutual interest and effort, I am confident we can make it work throughout my studies and continue our collaboration once I’m back full-time. Whether it’s a full-time or part-time role, short-term internship, or even small administrative tasks, I’m open to any opportunity and eager to contribute and stay engaged this summer. I understand the frustration behind this. Currently experiencing some of it myself and I empathize with others in similar positions. The struggle here is not just the difficulty of the hiring process, it’s the difficulty of letting go of things you can’t control and recognizing the things YOU CAN do. YOU CAN call or visit firms in your local area or where-ever you want to work. YOU CAN connect through AIA events where you’ll meet fellow emerging and practicing professionals. YOU CAN google search “architectural events near me” and then GO to them. YOU CAN continue to email, apply, and search for jobs online. YOU CAN work non corporate, but STILL architecture related jobs in the mean time. YOU CAN do a lot to increase the odds of obtaining a job. Outside of the events, the job search, and office visits. Whether you are in between jobs or just graduated… remember it’s not the end of the world. In fact relish in the time away from architecture. BUT at the same time SHARE your profession with others. SHARE your passion. Get lost in the details. Touch a wall here and there… Geek out. Someone, somewhere is going to bite and you never know it might just be your next job opportunity. If it is not that, then it’s a new friend to call on. Once your in the job, remember one key detail. YOU. DONT. KNOW. ANYTHING …. about how the firm functions. Above all else, you are there to LEARN the reality of practice. Every firm approaches the reality of practice differently. So ASK QUESTIONS. ASK for work. SHOW you are interested in the profession. Is that not why you pursued the profession to begin with, because it interested you? Learn what the orgnizational structures, the design techniques, business practices, aka the very fabric of the firm. Learn how they communicate with each other, learn how they operate projects, what are their main focus groups. These and so much more are going to help you navigate the profession effectively. Above all else, remember you are there to LEARN the reality of practice. And every firm approaches it differently. Allow yourself to become a sponge! Be willing to see both sides of the coin. Finally, the most important part. You remember that one project in school (go ahead pick one … finished or not finished), that you were really excited about and were super proud of how you designed and thought about it? Remember that interest - that particular passion… All of the knowledge and work you did for that passion is …. your niche, your forte, your specialty. THIS… THIS …. Is what you bring to the firm. This and all of the skills and knowledge that YOU learned from the time YOU spent in school. This is skills and knowledge that current architects have ‘heard of’ but are probably not completely ‘aware of’ or ‘knowledgeable in’. You are not behind. You are not lost. You are not defeated. You are just waiting at the pause menu in the game of life…

How to get hired as an entry-level architect in 2025: - Have 10 years of experience (but still be "junior"). - Master every design software *and* hand drafting. - Be fluent in Revit, Rhino, Lumion, Grasshopper, and Photoshop—simultaneously. - Work 80 hours a week, but only get paid for 40. - Be both a world-class designer and a construction expert. - Be able to sketch perfect perspectives in 5 seconds flat. - Know every building code and zoning law by heart. - Have a portfolio that looks like you’ve designed a dozen award-winning projects. - Convince the hiring manager that architecture school taught you real-world skills. Anything I’m missing? Y’all know that it’s normal to train people, right? 😂

"Architect by Day, Writer by Night" When you are a graduate seeking to expand a recently discovered talent, the excitement of finding new ways to excel is like that of a five-year-old trying to figure out the finish line in a video game: multiple attempts, multiple failures, and finally, win! My victory came when I was presented with an Architectural Writing Internship after publishing 45 articles for free. It was a triumph to realize that my chance to earn through this newly discovered skill had finally arrived. The stipend was handsome, and the working hours were flexible. It felt like a signal from above to support me in adding a new skill alongside my practising journey. Being aware that not all architecture firms entertain employees working at two different places was challenging. I felt lucky to work with a firm where the principal architect supported my career choices, ensuring that nothing affected my contribution to his office. I had an opportunity I didn’t want to lose and an office I didn’t want to leave. To practically achieve this, I decided to contribute three hours every day towards the internship after my existing office hours. The challenge wasn’t the dual roles; it was time management. If you are a designer or have been closely related to an architecture and interior design firm, you would know what I am talking about—dual roles within an architecture office appear like Versace on a budget. Efficient time management, scheduling, rescheduling, and wisely utilizing time to relax and induce creative thinking proved key to mastering the art of balancing dual roles. Three years into working parallelly with architectural writing and practising architecture, whenever people ask me how I manage, I have three words: "Mastering time management."

🔍 Understanding the Differences Between Revit's Parameter Types: 🏗️ Family, 📂 Shared, 🏢 Project, 🌍 Global & ⚙️ System. ➡ 1. Family Parameter Schedule: ❌ Cannot be scheduled. Tag: ❌ Cannot be tagged. Description: Family parameters are created within a family file and are specific to that family. They don’t appear in project schedules or tags, as they are internal to the family. They are used to control dimensions, visibility, and other characteristics within the family. ➡ 2. Shared Parameter Schedule: ✅ Can be scheduled. Tag: ✅ Can be tagged. Description: Shared parameters are parameters that can be used across multiple projects and families. They are stored in an external text file and can be added to both project schedules and tags. This makes them versatile and useful for managing consistent data across multiple elements in a project. ➡ 3. Project Parameter Schedule: ✅ Can be scheduled. Tag: ❌ Cannot be tagged. Description: Project parameters are added directly to a project and can be scheduled, but they are not visible in tags. They are typically used for managing data within the project environment, such as room numbers, materials, or quantities, and are project-specific. ➡ 4. Global Parameter Schedule: ❌ Cannot be scheduled. Tag: ❌ Cannot be tagged. Description: Global parameters are used to control multiple elements in a project but cannot be scheduled or tagged. They are project-specific and can be used to drive dimensions and relationships between elements across a project without directly appearing in schedules or tags. ➡ 5. System Parameter Schedule: ✅ Can be scheduled. Tag: ✅ Can be tagged. Description: System parameters are built into Revit by default and are part of Revit’s system families, such as walls, doors, or floors. They can be scheduled and tagged and are automatically available in projects.
