It’s December! And yes, I’m the guy blasting Christmas music in summer flying past you on the freeway. So to say the very least I’m excited. With that in mind I tend to unplug this time of year. With an insanely busy schedule, family, clients need to shuffle big time this time of year, It’s hard to keep it all straight. It’s easy to unplug and coast. That’s why I choose to stay “plugged in.” Too many leaders will disconnect this time of year. Overwhelming schedules, the people they lead emotional needs, family demands make it very difficult to cope. And so our minds trigger a coast mode. It’s like that six hour layover in DC Metro when their over booked and you’re now waiting for that ride home. If you’re gonna cope, sometimes we push the unplug button instead. But the momentum we loose by doing this can be detrimental to our teams and families. Oh I’m not saying dont celebrate. Im not saying at some intentional, strategic, point unwind. I’m just saying dont go on co-pilot. When you stay plugged in this time of year, And still choose to push hard to stay engaged with those around you, your team, family, and business, A snowball effect happens that will avalanche you into the new year with an unstoppable momentum. So check in your team, keep a thumb on the heartbeat of your organization, and truly be involved with your family. Master your calendar this time of year and don’t let the holiday blahs get you down! You control the narrative! You as a leader set the tone for wherever your feet land! You have the greatest opportunity to roll into the new year like a freight train fully fueled and charging down the tracks of success! Make this a good habit my friends and say it with me!!!
