At WIDMO Spectral Technologies, we work hard every day to ensure that SGPR technology explores what lies deep beneath the ground as accurately as possible. But to achieve that goal, some of us must literally have our heads in the clouds! ☁️ Our advanced cloud-based solutions are crucial for handling vast amounts of data collected by Spectral Ground Penetrating Radar. Practically from the moment the radar gathers data during the survey, it gets sent to the cloud, where it's safely stored and encrypted. Raw data in the form of binary files undergoes a complex processing procedure in the cloud to reach our proprietary Widmo Analytics system, through which we analyze geological information and produce advanced, highest-quality echograms. Utilizing technologies like Data Warehouse gives us the potential to analyze millions of records in the blink of an eye, from anywhere on Earth, ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our operations while maintaining the highest level of security. Most importantly, our solutions are perfectly set up for scaling when we begin mass-producing our radars. All of this is possible thanks to our Data Science team, including our cloud expert Maciej Marek, who recently attained the prestigious Professional Cloud Architect (GCP) certification! Congratulations Maciej on this well-earned achievement!🎉 #SGPR #Widmo #CloudComputing #DataScience #GCP

If you’re working with geospatial data, chances are you’ve come across the name, Kyle Barron. As a Cloud Engineer at Development Seed, Kyle is one of those data engineers that are fundamentally changing how we work with large #geospatial datasets on the internet. In this interview, he shares his thoughts on GeoArrow and GeoParquet—two tools that "speed up handling larger amounts of geospatial data." Read the full interview on the #cloudnativegeo blog site.

When I joined Grindr, one of the first things I was asked to do was take a look at our Snowflake costs. With our tagging and monitoring, we were able to save over half a million dollars a year in Snowflake spending. Now a year and a half later, this tagging will be available in Airflow for all. This solution served as inspiration for SnowPatrol, an open-source application for anomaly detection and alerting for Snowflake usage, powered by machine learning and Airflow. If you want to learn more, sign up for the webinar below.

In recent years Google Research has released some ground breaking approaches to weather prediction (Graphcast) and (Gencast). However accessing and using these state-of-the-art weather models wasn't straightforward and required some heavy lifting to both access the model and generate the dataset of interest. This is no longer the case as WeatherNext is now available via Google Earth Engine an experimental dataset that can also be served via Google Cloud Big Query. https://lnkd.in/ehWTCbyc Other links: https://lnkd.in/eDP_iaSM https://lnkd.in/e_hckTCV #weatherprediction #weatherforecasting #googledeepmind #googlecloud #googleearthengine

It's Day 2 in our Snowflake mini-series. Since being founded in 2012, it's fair to say Snowflake has been pretty transformative to data teams' lives worldwide. Here are some of the ways how Snowflake revolutionised Big Data: 1️⃣ Separation of Storage and Compute: - Before Snowflake, businesses had to deal with monolithic architectures where storage and compute were tightly coupled, leading to inefficiencies and high costs - Snowflake’s architecture decoupled storage from compute resources, allowing businesses to scale independently. This means you only pay for what you use, optimising costs and performance. 2️⃣ Data Sharing and Collaboration: - Sharing data across organisations used to mean cumbersome data transfers and security risks. - Snowflake’s secure data-sharing features allows for instant, controlled access to live data without the need to move or copy it. - This has enabled real-time collaboration across organisations and created a dynamic ecosystem where partners, vendors, and customers can seamlessly interact. 3️⃣ True Multi-Cloud Capability: - With Snowflake, you’re not tied to a single cloud provider. Businesses can deploy across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, leveraging the strengths of each. - This multi-cloud strategy ensures high availability, disaster recovery, and vendor independence, offering unparalleled flexibility and global reach. - Previously, organisations were often locked into a single cloud provider, limiting flexibility and increasing risk. If you want to find out how Orchestra can further revolutionise life for Snowflake users, check out for yourself down below! ➡ https://lnkd.in/eM6uqgCU #BigData #CloudComputing #Snowflake #Innovation
