24 Years in OPP: A Journey of Dedication & Growth With 24 years of experience in Oil & Gas as an Elecrtician, He have built a career focused on safety, teamwork, and operational excellence. He has seen the industry evolve and have always embraced innovation and new challenges. Short interview conducted with the man himself: Name: Peter Fu Su Leong Position: Electrical Technician 1. What motivated you to stay with the company for such a long period, and how has your role evolved over the years? Ans: Basically, I can understand & handle my job , I cooperate with my colleagues & learning new things every in my work to upgrade my skill. It have evolved much , I try my best to follow the instructions of my boss, and he always understands my weaknesses. The frankness & trust between superiors & subordinate are very important. 2. What are some of the most significant changes you’ve witnessed in the industry and within the company during your tenure? Ans: The company has improved significantly. It values the needs of employees & is willing to listen to their suggestions. Personally, the company has given me many favourable. 3. What advice would you give to new employees just starting their journey with the company or in this field? Ans: If it’s an inexperienced person, you should obey, always take note, be willing to learn and do not give up asking questions. 4. Can you share a memorable challenge you faced and how you overcame it? Ans: I don’t face an unforgettable challenge or experience. How to overcome for me it’s to face it frankly & accept it. 5. What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career, and how have you maintained your passion for the job over the years? Ans: I have worked here for so many years, and what I have gained is that I have meet many people of different nationalities working together, which has broadened my horizons, made me live in harmony, sharing & tolerance. Over the years, I have been passionate about my work, keeping positive attitude, occasionally humorous and more importantly safety first.

The global energy market is giving unprecedented opportunities for electrical engineers. In all scenarios, there will be more jobs than skilled candidates available, leading to 2030. 1 year ago, the International Energy Agency (IEA) issued their world Energy employment report, highlighting that there will be 8 million clean energy jobs will that will be added worldwide by 2030. It takes 18-24 months to gain the right basic experience and develop the needed engineering skills. More companies are hiring graduates and training new people. If I was looking to start my career today, I would start in a testing and commissioning or any other similar site-based junior role. Starting from the late stages of projects gives you more visibility and understanding of the systems you will work on, like no other. From there you can find out what you enjoy doing and branch out. There hasn't been a better time to embark on your clean energy career.
