Smaller cattle feeders struggle with being able to learn from their data because it is such a small sample size. The variables from start to finish on a few pens leaves them dependent on guessing or misinterpreting information. One of the solutions to learning something new is expanding their network by partnering on a few cattle in a custom yard. Two ways of taking it a step further would be 1) Partner in a different geographic weather pattern area. 2) Partner on cattle that is different than their normal kind. Maybe, let someone else buy them. The people who do this have an advantage from my perspective. Before someone responds to this with bad experiences, I get it and have been there. Cattlemen should do their due diligence and do it on a small volume, for sure. #Balance4ward

The cattle market has been holding steady this week, with rains across the Plains sparking optimism for improved pasture conditions. On this week's *Cattle Call*, Brad Kooima with KKV Trading highlights several factors at play: - **Boxed Beef Trends**: There has been a higher grind in boxed beef, signaling demand strength in the beef sector, which could help support prices. - **Feeder Cattle Charts**: Chart trends for feeder cattle show potential resilience, but movement remains cautious as traders await further signals. - **Cattle Movement**: Speed of cattle movement through the market is an essential factor, with steady supplies helping stabilize the market. The key question remains whether the market can build on recent momentum, as traders look to balance supply factors with improving pasture conditions and broader market dynamics.

The movement in the stock market has undoubtedly influenced the cattle market, adding some volatility. There is potential for the cash cattle market to firm up, especially if demand remains steady or improves. On this week's Cattle Call, Brad Kooima with Kooima Kooima Varilek looks at the roller coaster ride of this week's trade. The question of whether shortened processing capacity in the East will pull more cattle from Iowa and Nebraska is a valid one. If Eastern plants reduce operations, we could see more demand shift to the Midwest, potentially increasing cattle movement from states like Iowa and Nebraska to meet that need. This could support cash prices in those regions as processors look to maintain supply chains.

Q: What is the best way to configure a permanent electric fence for cattle? A one-wire cross will contain dairy or trained cattle. A five-wire boundary is necessary for stocker/yearlings or cow/calf operations. Use posts spaced 60-90 feet apart to support the wire.
