With over 60 years of combined experience in construction, our field crew knows what it takes to get the job done right. Regular team meetings with our crew are always productive and an excellent opportunity to: ✅ Continuously review safety measures and protocols. We address site-specific concerns, seasonal hazards, and crucial safety topics to keep our team vigilant and prepared. ✅ Discuss customer experience. When a project starts, our field superintendents begin to have more direct contact with the customer, and they do an excellent job of displaying the same level of communication, integrity, and customer service as our office staff. ✅ Build rapport. Our guys in the field don't tend to see each other often, so it's always nice for them to meet face-to-face, talk through any issues in the field, or just shoot the breeze. ✅ Reinforce pride and principle. Our field crew always strives for perfection in their craftsmanship. They hold themselves to the highest level of accountability to creatively and effectively implement solutions for problems and opportunities. They care about their work, and that care extends to your project and the final product. Ready to see if TJK is a good fit for your next project? Finding the right people can make or break your project in construction industry. Earlier this week during a site visit, I was with my brother for contractor meetings, quietly watching and absorbing everything while he led the discussions. And let me tell you, there’s a lot you can learn just by observing how people present themselves. There was this one contractor who walked in confidently, saying, “This place is my birthplace and workplace. Nothing to worry about, sir! I’ll handle everything for you.” That sounds nice, but believe me, it was not. He hadn’t even visited the site or taken the time to understand the project—it was all talk, no work. On the other hand, there was another contractor who had spent a week on-site, studying every detail. When he arrived, he came with working drawings, practical solutions, and a clear understanding of the technicalities involved. And that’s when it became clear: smooth talkers might impress you at first, but without real preparation, they’ll leave you hanging. The ones who do the groundwork, know the technical details, and have solutions ready—those are the people you can rely on. Hence, one thing became clear: when you are choosing someone to trust for your project, just look beyond words! Find the one who’s done the work—that’s how you find the right person. So, what qualities do you prioritize when choosing someone to trust for a critical project? Let me know in the comments. #contractors #constructionsites #peoplemanagement #constructionmanagement

🔍 Best Practices for Setting Out in Construction: Ensuring Precision and Efficiency on Site 🔍 Setting out is a pivotal phase in any construction project, laying the groundwork for all subsequent construction phases. To maximise accuracy and efficiency during this phase, it’s crucial to adopt certain best practices. Here’s a breakdown of essential habits and procedures every construction team should follow: 👷🏾♂️ Keep Careful Records: Document every step of the setting out process. Detailed records help track progress, monitor quality, and provide a reference in case of discrepancies. 👷🏽 Adopt Reliable Filing Procedures: Organise all documents and drawings systematically. Efficient filing ensures that any piece of information is easily accessible when needed, avoiding delays. 👷🏽Look After Instruments and Use Them Safely: Regularly calibrate and maintain surveying instruments to ensure they provide accurate readings. Handle these tools with care and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents. 👷🏾♂️ Walk the Site: Before any setting out begins, thoroughly walk the site to familiarise yourself with the terrain and identify any potential obstacles. 👷🏽 Fix the Control Points: Establish and verify control points that will guide the entire setting out process. Ensure these are clearly marked and preserved throughout construction. 👷🏽Inspect the Site Regularly: Frequent inspections allow for ongoing adjustments as needed and help catch any deviations from plans early on. 👷🏼♀️ Work to the Program: Adhere to the scheduled timeline. Regular progress checks against the program help identify any delays or accelerations in the schedule. 👷🏾♂️ Work to the Specifications: Ensure that all work aligns with the technical specifications and drawings. This compliance is crucial for meeting both quality standards and regulatory requirements. 👷🏽 Maintain Accuracy: Double-check measurements and alignments regularly. Accuracy in setting out reduces costly errors and rework later in the construction process. 👷🏼♀️ Check the Work: Implement quality control processes to review work continuously. Early detection of mistakes saves time and resources. 👷🏾♂️ Communicate: Maintain clear and open lines of communication with the entire project team. Effective communication ensures everyone is aligned and informed of progress and changes. Contractors Contractors, whether individuals or companies, are responsible for executing construction tasks while ensuring the safety and health of all involved. Their role involves planning, overseeing, and supervising construction activities to prevent any potential risks. In projects with multiple contractors, it is crucial to coordinate effectively with other team members and follow directions from the principal designer or contractor. In the case of single contractor projects, a construction phase plan must be prepared to guide the process. #ConstructionSafety #ProjectCoordination
