I'm a non-believer in whales and hype beers, and firmly believe that everyone deserves access to good beer. Chasing trendy hype beers often means overpaying for products with inflated value, manufactured scarcity, and overblown expectations. Instead of waiting in long lines or spending excessive money, you can explore a world of exceptional, affordably priced beers from local breweries. Craft beer is about discovery and pleasure, not stress or status don’t let the hype overshadow the experience and enjoyment. It's beer. I'll add the disclaimer that not all breweries make the same quality beer, but you still have access to good beer from off-premise bottle shops and grocery. #itsjustbeer #quality #unpopularopinion #barrelaged #pastrystout #craftbeer

🍾🍺🍾 Miller High Life: The Big, Corporate Beer That Won the Industry’s Heart At a craft #beer bar in Brooklyn called Queue Beer, all of the 24 taps feature premium and hard-to-find beers — but one tap faucet stands apart from the rest. It’s a top-of-the-line, Czech-made Lukr side-pull faucet. Rarely seen even in top beer bars, it requires a special technique to properly operate, allowing for more nuanced control of beer flow than the standard on-off tap faucet. Queue uses it to pour Canal Champagne, a lager with a dense, creamy head of foam, and tasting notes of honey and biscuit. It is currently the No. 6-rated American lager on the beer rating site @Untappd. Canal Champagne shares Top 10 real estate with offerings from celebrated craft breweries like Asheville’s Burial Beer Co., and San Diego’s North Park Beer Company. So it might come as a surprise that if you were to follow the line from the Canal Champagne tap down into the cellar, you would find a bog-standard keg of plain old Miller High Life. Berkeley Yeast Fresh strains make cleaner tasting beer that judges and beer drinkers prefer. Until now, brewers have relied on imperfect methods for reducing total diacetyl, a distracting off-flavor that can impact quality at even very low levels. Diacetyl rests are shortened, beer is packaged sooner, fewer forced tests are required, and above all, your customers will enjoy a beer that’s so fresh and so clean. -- Read their Fresh Chico story featuring North Park, Dust Bowl, Resident Culture, Riip, and Fireforge, and learn how these breweries are using Fresh Chico to give their GABF and WBC winning beers and edge. https://lnkd.in/gAxherWy #ad

Yesterday, I was proud to be a part of the launch of SIBA, The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates Independent Beer Report. As a business, we have been supporting SIBA and independent breweries for many years, and I am glad to see overall beer numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels. Craft is back it seems, even if at a more granular level, there are changes in the mix of beer sold. As the report tells, there is still a lot of work to be done! The UK beer industry is a huge part of our culture in the UK, with the role of the local pub often mis-understood and valued. The role of independent brewers is also still undervalued - I wonder how much of our spend in a pub stays local when spent in a local pub, drinking local beer, rather than drinking in a large pub chain, drinking global brands. You can download the report here. Drink local, support your local economy, support your local independent brewer. https://lnkd.in/ecn-8c6M

"The reason we bought a BeerFoss™ FT Go was actually to measure our non-alcoholic beer” Non-alcoholic (NA) beer is becoming “the big thing” in beer. We caught up with Landgang Brauerei in Hamburg to speak about new brewing methods for NA beers and why on-point analysis is so important in the non-alcoholic beer market. https://lnkd.in/g_8mHesW #nonalcoholic #NA #beer #craftbrewing

INDEPENDENT BREWERS: We’re proud to support SIBA, The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates in their Indie Beer Campaign! 🍺 Recent research by SIBA and YouGov has revealed that UK beer drinkers are being misled. Many so-called “independent craft beers” are actually owned by global giants like Heineken, Budweiser, and Molson Coors. Shockingly, 83% of drinkers feel deceived when they discover their “independently brewed” pint is part of a large corporation. To tackle this, SIBA is launching the Indie Beer mark – the easiest way to spot genuinely independent craft beers. Look out for the mark on beers from proper independent breweries, like us at Wold Top! 🍻 The Indie Beer mark is set to become the industry standard for top-quality craft and cask beers brewed in the UK by truly independent brewers. Find out more about the Indie Beer Campaign by following the Society of Independent Brewers at SIBA, The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates. #IndieBeer #SupportIndependent #CraftBeer #IndependentBrewers #RealAle #SIBA #UKBeer #WoldTopBrewing 🍻

The craft beer world is filled with passionate opinions — and nowhere more so than among those who wield notebooks and pens. Ask any three beer writers to name the country’s single best brewery, and you’re likely to get over a dozen well-argued responses, from the totally obvious to the truly arcane. For this year’s annual survey, we asked 30 beer pros of various stripes — #beer writers, educators, historians, community leaders, authors, and just one cartoonist — to name the best breweries in the country right now. Their choices run the gamut, from long-term favorites to hot new arrivals, from high-volume producers to neighborhood taprooms. The Brewers Association (BA) released its Beer Style Guidelines for 2024 and included is the addition of a new style, Italian-Style Pilsener! Originating in northern Italy, the beer combines a traditional German-Style Pilsener with a significant addition of noble- variety dry hops. The result is a light, refreshing lager-style beer with a more subtle, herbal hop aroma than the aggressively fruity or tropical aromas found in many dry-hopped American- or West Coast-Style India Pale Ales. This unique combination of Old World tradition + New World innovation makes the beer stand out as a singular style! “We’re excited to have a new home for the many Italian-Style Pilseners we’ve seen popping up in the global beer market over the past few years,” said Chris Williams, BA Competition Director. “Giving these beers an opportunity to shine in their own standalone competition category gives us the chance to recognize this flavorful style. We look forward to seeing who makes the best Italian-Style Pilsener in the world for the 2025 World Beer Cup Competition.” “The brewing landscape continues to evolve worldwide. We want to ensure that the BA Beer Style Guidelines continue to be a trusted resource and adequately reflect current beer styles across the globe as brewers innovate and refine their beers.” “The best Pilseners are ones we drink with friends.” — Stephen Carter King Source: Brewers Association • Em Sauter EDITED: I missed an important attribution when I first posted this — Em Sauter — who did the original artwork (below) — my mistake!!
