Big happenings at Stranger's Guide! We launched Stranger’s Guide in 2018—in the shadow of Donald Trump’s presidency—with a bold vision: to connect readers across borders, to celebrate our shared human experiences and to explore how politics, power and culture play out in our everyday lives. For the past six years, we’ve commissioned stories that do just that. We are an American publication, but we’ve cultivated a global network of journalists, writers and thinkers, with the strong belief that local voices are best equipped to explain their political and cultural realities. The world is a messy, beautiful, terrible, fascinating place. Now more than ever, we need a unique approach to storytelling, one that emphasizes nuance and embraces contradictions. So, we are taking our vision for Stranger’s Guide a step further. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out a number of new features that allow us to expand our work beyond the places featured in our print guides, to cover more cities and countries, through original articles, live events and new newsletters. (And don’t worry, we’ll still be making new print guides!) This isn’t just a shift; it’s an expansion, an evolution, a way to do even more of what we love and to deepen our connection with you.
