The athletes who will represent Chile at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games | Paris 2024 Olympic Games Chile has confirmed the delegation of athletes who will represent the South American country at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which begin next Friday, July 26, with an opening ceremony in the capital of France. Team ChileThe Olympic team will be represented by 48 athletes, the largest representation in history, not counting team sports such as football, which did not qualify for the Olympics. The participation of the Chileans will come later on boom of the sports centers after the Pan American and Parapan American Games in Santiago 2023. The enthusiasm of citizens to follow the multiple sports disciplines spread to the authorities. President Gabriel Boric had planned a trip – which was cancelled due to the security crisis in the country – to Paris to attend the opening ceremony to advance Chile’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, a commitment that was made by the president during his Public Account on June 1. The growth of representatives Chile will send 48 athletes to Paris, of which 30 are men and 18 are women. The figure is lower than that of the previous Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, where 56 athletes traveled. But the detailed numbers show a historic growth in disciplines where the South American country usually does not have a presence. Team Chile He explained that 50% of the disciplines (11 out of 20) have more athletes. For example, athletics tripled its participants (from three to nine) and cycling doubled (from two to four). Eight sports equaled their representation compared to Tokyo, with the exception of equestrian, which suffered losses due to the death of a horse and the exclusion of a competitor due to a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). As for the newcomers, there will be 22. Also, 27 of the 48 athletes were medalists in the last Pan American Games. The delegation without team sports Chilean delegation officials have stressed that this group will make history by being the largest without considering team sports. The South American country failed to qualify in any team discipline, which caused a natural decrease in the number of athletes compared to Tokyo 2020. For example, the previous Olympic Games included the participation of the women’s soccer team, made up of 22 players. Female Red She was unable to revalidate her Olympic journey after being eliminated from the classification. The standard bearers The flag bearers of the Chilean delegation in Paris 2024, Antonia Abraham and Nicolás Jarry.Getty Images The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCh) has chosen rower Antonia Abraham and tennis player Nicolás Jarry as the Chilean flag bearers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. UNDERSTAND YOUR AUDIENCE : THE 2024 OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONY, WHAT WENT WRONG? What happened at the 2024 Paris Olympic Ceremony: The Paris 2024 Olympic games has begun, And with Team GB winning 13 Medals so far including 4 gold medals! We are really enjoying this years amazing Olympic games. The Chinese mixed doubles team for Table Tennis amazed everyone, with their first ever gold as a mixed doubles team and was one of the best matches we have seen in years! WAS IT A GOOD RISK TO TAKE? We love everything about this years Olympics, apart from one clear moment………The opening ceremony. And were here to talk about why its important to get your message correct or it can have devastating effects to your whole idea or event! Marketing is all about taking risks, but this years opening ceremony has been described as ‘shameful’ , ‘A mockery to christianity’ & ‘Distasteful’. So What happened at the 2024 Paris Olympic Ceremony? Well, viewership this year has clearly taken a hit as nobody i ask around my CITY is even watching it! Its not they dont like the UK, its just after seeing something so offensive to them. They would rather go without supporting their country at the Olympics. What this is demonstrating to us is if you want to get out there, do it right. Dont use provocative imagery and extremely alternative content to an audience that is looking for class, heritage and quality. What was displayed to most people was a unorganised, rampant shamble of a performance. With no celebration to the athletes themselves sailing in from around the world… Instead it was very individualised, Like all that mattered was them and their provocative and frankly unprofessional performances. This has sent a shockwave through social media. People like us today are comparing this demonstration as a complete imitation of the last supper that Jesus is painted having with his disciples. However was this the case? After the official response from the organisers of the Olympics, they stated that is was to be a depiction of the Greek God Of Wine ‘Dionysus‘ . The performance was done so poorly , that i’m certain nobody would have understood that that was a performance about a greek god. It seemed another way to push certain ways of life that dont necessary meet with an audience like the Olympics. DID IT WORK? The saying 'any news is good news' hasn’t lived in 2024. We have the potential as a collective to make huge waves in the digital space. We’ve had the power to uncover mysteries, call out lies and false information, and cancelling large brands or events the moment their dirty laundry is released. Looking at all major brands over the last 5 years. But for new business, one hit like this can earn the end for any social traction or sales. This means theres different rules at play here. We need to be careful not to throw crap at the wall and see if anything sticks, The smaller business has to present themselves correctly.

Paris Olympic Games: Team Nigeria Flatters To Deceive Once Again The 2024 Paris Olympic Games has come and gone; leaving in its wake a huge cloud of EMBARRASSMENT for Team Nigeria and Nigeria as a whole. Sports loving Nigerians were once again left with a sense of déjà vu where Team Nigeria flattered to deceive; so to speak. Team Nigeria's underwhelming performance was reminiscent of the London 2012 and the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, where Team Nigeria performed abysmally, despite the 'array of talents' in its ranks. While a country like Botswana won two medals a Gold and a Silver, Team Nigeria could not find its feet as it was enmeshed in one needless controversy or the other to the detriment of actual performance on the tracks and field. But to more discerning commentators Team Nigeria's shambolic performance did not come as a surprise, because the telltale signs were boldly emblazoned on the horizon for all to see. Even though the Federal Government has shamefacedly urged sports administrators to begin preparing for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the story would still be the same because MEDIOCRITY has taken hold of Grassroots sports development in the country. Going forward, the government should stop seeing sports administration as a 'Job for the Boys', thereby enthroning individuals who are bereft of the minutest knowledge of administrative nous. Political appointees are usually interested in their gain rather than the common good. It will interest you to know that athletes did not get their training grants as and when due, which led to them suffering from burnouts because they could not space their training schedule accordingly. Ideally, the Sports Ministry is supposed to work in tandem with the athletes at its disposal to ensure that they are doing well, but the story is different in our clime. Even when the grants were eventually paid to the athletes during the Games, it was nothing to write home about against the backdrop of what the athletes have expended on themselves. Sadly this misnomer has been the norm in Nigeria sports circuit where the officials feed fat on the resources meant for the welfare of the athletes. The rivalry between the Nigeria Olympic Committee who is supposed to be in charge of the athletes during the Games, and the meddling officials of the Sports Ministry did not help matters; as each tried to assert its authority. Our training infrastructure at home for athletes are literally non-existent much less to competitions that would have sharpened their competitive edge, thereby making it impossible for athletes to be properly trained for major competitions like the Olympic Games. The time has come for the authorities to put square pegs in square holes to revamp grassroots sports development across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Anything short of cleaning out the Augean Stables of Nigeria's sports development will continue to stunt its growth.

Flavor Flav Signs Five-Year Sponsorship Deal as Official Hype Man for USA Water Polo." This headline from Amy Moritz's article caught my attention and got me thinking about the power of #sportsadvocacy. 🚀 The co-founding member of Public Enemy brought unprecedented attention and energy to USA Water Polo during the 2024 Paris #Olympics. His genuine passion and commitment transformed the sport's visibility, making him an unexpected yet perfect advocate. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 Flavor Flav's love for the game and dedication to supporting the athletes resonated deeply with fans. His involvement wasn't just a flashy PR move; it was a heartfelt commitment to a sport he believes in. This kind of authentic support is precisely what USA Team Handball needs to elevate its profile and garner the recognition it deserves. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 The five-year deal with USA Water Polo showed Flavor Flav's long-term commitment, providing stability and continuous support to the athletes. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝘁: 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀 Before diving deeper, I have to give a huge shoutout to USA Water Polo Women’s National Team Captain, Maggie Steffens, being the catalyst for this partnership. She posted on Instagram about her excitement for the Paris Olympics. While encouraging new fans to check out the sport, she also noted that many of the athletes on the national team had to take second and third jobs to make ends meet—including paying for expenses related to representing the U.S., like travel costs, nutrition, and training. This post caught the eye of Flavor Flav’s manager, leading to a seemingly unlikely but incredibly impactful partnership. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲. Olympic and Paralympic sponsorship season is upon us. The media is replete with announcements from Olympic and Paralympic sponsors. There is a lot to learn if you pay attention. Olympic & Paralympic sponsorship isn’t a mystery, but it also isn’t easy. It’s a transactional brand association, and when done well, it produces a bilateral benefit for the partner and Olympic & Paralympic brands. The secret lies in focusing on that sliver of space where the two Venn Diagrams depicting each party’s brand values overlap. But. ➡️ If the brand association isn’t authentic, it won’t work. ➡️ If the sponsorship rights and benefits don't support a sponsor's existing business strategy, it won’t work. ➡️ If the sponsor focuses its Olympic & Paralympic promotional efforts only around the Games period, it won't work. ➡️ If the parties focus more on the terms of their sponsorship Agreement instead of the terms of their relationship, it won't work. ➡️ Finally, it won't work if there is no understanding (by the sponsor) of the Olympic brand's core values and consumers' expectations of commercial association with it - and, it won’t work if the Olympic & Paralympic parties do not understand or are unable to help their partners achieve the business goals that drive their sponsorships. My prediction (or hope): I think the next iteration of the Olympics’ commercial agreeemts will and should measure the ROI they receive from their partner relationships beyond the sponsorship fee, just as sponsors measure theirs. Anyone can write a check, the question is: “Do you believe?” International Olympic Committee – IOC International Paralympic Committee United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 Brisbane 2032 #olympics #paralympics #sponsorship

For most athletes, winning an Olympic medal is the highest mark of achievement. But as this year’s more than 10,000 participants vie to take home gold, silver or bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics, one thing is for sure—they won’t be taking home any money. At least not from the International Olympic Committee – IOC, which doesn’t give out cash prizes to medalists. Some countries do dole out funds for winning Olympians, but for the most part, the earnings of athletes playing at the 2024 Olympics come from sports leagues and brand endorsements, with payouts varying significantly by sport. The prize money awarded to athletes at the Olympic Games, particularly in track and field events, has been a topic of discussion and debate. Historically, the Olympics have not offered prize money to medalists, as the focus has been on promoting amateurism and the spirit of competition. For track and field athletes, the lack of prize money at the Olympics means that many rely on sponsorships, endorsements, and performance bonuses to support their training and competition expenses. This can create financial challenges for athletes, especially those from countries with limited funding for sports. On the other hand, some argue that the absence of prize money at the Olympics helps maintain the purity of the games and ensures that athletes compete for the love of their sport rather than financial gain. It also highlights the idea of sportsmanship and fair play as the primary motivating factors for athletes. However, as the cost of training and competing continues to rise, there have been calls for the Olympics to consider offering prize money to medalists as a way to support athletes and enhance the level of competition. This could potentially attract more top-tier athletes to participate in the Games and provide financial security to those who dedicate their lives to their sport. In conclusion, the topic of prize money for athletes at the Olympic Games, particularly in track and field, is complex and multifaceted. While the traditional approach of no prize money has its merits in preserving the spirit of the games, there are valid arguments for exploring ways to provide financial support to athletes who compete at the highest level. Ultimately, finding a balance between maintaining the integrity of the Olympics and supporting athletes' livelihoods will be crucial in shaping the future of sports at the Olympic Games. https://lnkd.in/egGsKynp

🏅🇵🇱 Olympic Games in Poland 2040 - is it even possible? The Minister of Sport and Tourism, Sławomir Nitras, during a meeting with the media, presented the idea of organising the summer Olympic Games in Poland as a project to bring a “leap in civilisation.” Various dates have been mentioned in the context of the organisation of the Olympic Games in Poland: 2036 or 2040 and 2044, among others. However, there is now talk of one date - 2040. According to the minister, the event should be held throughout the country, with an emphasis on Warsaw, and investments associated with the games could contribute to the development of infrastructure, communications and environmental protection, as was the case with Euro 2012. At the moment, it is uncertain whether Poland will host the Games 2040, as the International Olympic Committee has not yet announced a deadline for accepting official applications from candidates. 💡 Are the Olympic Games in Poland realistic at all? Nitras stressed that the organisation of the Olympics in Poland is feasible, comparing it to the success of Euro 2012. The strategy for preparing for the Games is called “Strategy for the Development of Sports - IO Warsaw 2040,” and it is the first step in the process of organising the IO and includes not only the construction of appropriate infrastructure, but also the promotion of active lifestyles and the development of society. The minister also noted the need to improve the image of Polish sports, which is dominated by football and noted that the largest financial reserves for the organization of the Games could come from the private sector. 🏋️♀️ The benefits of hosting the Olympic Games: - Promoting the country internationally and building its image. - Development of tourism and investment, which boosts the local economy. - Revitalisation of cities, especially neglected neighbourhoods, and improvement of urban infrastructure. - Increasing interest in sports and healthy lifestyles among residents. - Consolidation of society and increased national pride. 🇵🇱 Poland in sports: Poland and Ukraine hosted Euro 2012, in addition, for the first time in history, Poland will host the World Champs in Athletics in Chorzow in 2027. As for this year's Olympic Games in Paris, Poland won ten medals. We won: silver in canoeing by Klaudia Zwolińska, bronze medals for rowers, rowers and Iga Świątek in tennis. Aleksandra Mirosław won gold in time-climbing, and Aleksandra Kałucka won bronze. Natalia Kaczmarek won bronze in the 400 meters. Silver also went to Polish volleyball player and fighter Julia Szeremeta, and the last medal, also silver, was won by Daria Pikulik in track cycling. Interestingly, the 1940 Olympic Games were supposed to be held in Helsinki, but due to the war it did not happen. ❓Is Poland ready to take on the challenge of hosting the 2040 Olympic Games? 🔗 Link to sources in comment. Track & field become first sport to pay prize money at Paris Olympics 2024s' gold medalists $50,000. Excerpts: 1) The governing body of athletics has allocated $2.4 million to reward gold medalists across the 48 men’s, women’s, and mixed events in the track and field program for this year’s Paris Olympics. Relay teams will also share the prize money among their members. 2) Silver and bronze medalists are also set to receive monetary recognition, starting from the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Personally, I feel: 1) It would bring in more youth to participate in this sport. 2) More employment opportunities for Coaches/ PETs'. 3) Other Sport might experience similar initiatives sooner or later.
