October is an exciting time with Halloween plans brewing in households all over the country. As you plan for Halloween decorating and costumes for your kids, keep in mind several safety tips: 👻 Never use electrical products outdoors that are marked “for indoor use.” 🎃 Install an outdoor Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs), especially since outdoor decorations can come into contact with rain. 🕷️ Dried flowers, cornstalks, hay and crepe paper are highly flammable. Keep them away from open flames and other heat sources including light bulbs and heaters. 🕸️ Always inspect decorations before use and discard any with cracked, frayed or bare wires. 👻 Only use electrical lights and decorations that are approved for safe use by a nationally recognized testing laboratory such as UL, Intertek (ETL), or CSA. 🎃 Use a flashlight or battery-operated candles in a jack-o-lantern. If you must use a candle, use extreme caution. 🕷️ Select costumes that are made with flame-resistant, flame-retardant or non-combustible materials. 🕸️ Use caution when using décor that requires button batteries, also known as watch or coin batteries. Thousands of people each year accidentally ingest these batteries, which can result in hospitalization or even death. 👻 🎃 🕷️ 🕸️ #halloween #safetyfirst #wascoelectriccooperative

As we prepare for Halloween fun, remember to keep safety in mind. Here are some tips to consider: 👻 Light It Up: Carry a flashlight or wear glow sticks to stay visible in the dark. 👻 Inspect Treats: Before enjoying your candy, check for any signs of tampering. 👻 Fire Safety: Use LED lights instead of candles for decorating. 🎃 People love getting into the Halloween spirit, but setting some decorating boundaries as a landlord is important. Here’s how to keep your property in top shape while tenants celebrate: 1️⃣Ask tenants to avoid using heavy adhesives or nails on walls that could damage paint or siding. 2️⃣ Encourage tenants to avoid blocking entrances or walkways with large decorations that could cause trips or falls. 3️⃣ Suggest using battery-operated candles in pumpkins to avoid fire risks. Need help managing your rental property during seasonal festivities? Lovelle can help you navigate these situations.
