⌛ When time is of the essence... For most startups, the speed of the patent process 🐌 will work to your advantage. Using the PCT procedure, you can delay making decisions about the territories of protection for up to 30/31 months. That's almost 2.5 years before you need to part with a lot of 💸💸💸 If you're looking to create an array of rights AND your resources are finite, you'll be better off first investing in broadening your technology scope instead of extending its territorial coverage. However, if you have some extra cash or need to get patents granted quickly, for any reason, you have options. There are more patent offices that offer equivalent ways of accelerating the process but the below four are a solid start. What's the quickest you ever got a patent granted?🚀

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed that in financial year (FY) 2023-24, the Patent Office had granted 1,03,057 patents. It said that owing to fee concessions in patents applications, there has been a significant increase in patent filings by startups, MSMEs and educational institutes. The same in demonstrated in the table below. The enhancement in both the quantity and quality of recognized intellectual property demonstrates significant growth potential in allied industries. Recent government initiatives appear to have yielded positive outcomes in the Indian IP ecosystem. The next step involves making the framework more dynamic to foster innovation and address complex IP-related legal challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and biotechnology inventions. Although the data presents an encouraging narrative, efforts are needed to ensure the regulatory framework is more accommodative and contemporary. Thoughts?
