We couldn’t let National Sibling Day pass today without making a song and dance of our proudest sibling employees here at M&B! We caught up with Ben Chater, Area Manager for Vintage Inns, to find out more about the roles that the Chater family play at M&B... 👨👩👧👦 How many siblings form the Chater family, and how many Chaters work at MAB? 👨👩👧👦 There are nine Chater siblings in total, six of which work for MAB currently. All but one have worked for MAB at some point whilst studying at college or university too. 👨👩👧👦 Which function/ departments do yourself and your siblings in MAB work across? 👨👩👧👦 I am currently working for Vintage Inns as an RBM for the Midlands district. Liz is GM for PCP at the Crown in Wergs. Matt is GM for Ember at the Foley Arms in Stourbridge. Tim is also a GM for Ember at the Old White Horse in Stourbridge. Seb works for the SWS Team as a Stock & Labour Systems Specialist and finally Oli is an AM for Ember at the Foley Arms in Stourbridge. 👨👩👧👦 Who joined MAB first, and what is the combined length of service between you all? 👨👩👧👦 I joined MAB first back in 2003, very much needing some money whilst back at home from university. I started off by working at the Old White Horse in Stourbridge as a part time team member, then transferring up to a High Street site in Liverpool where I was studying at the time. After university I applied for the Retail Graduate Programme and then started my journey into management, it was at this point that recruiting for busy seasons in the pub became easy as I had plenty of family to call on to get cover for those busy shifts! One by one the majority of the family worked in businesses for either myself, Liz or Matt and we now have nearly 70 years combined service between the family. 👨👩👧👦 What is your favourite thing about coming from a large family? 👨👩👧👦 The best thing about coming from a large family (apart from finding cover when needed) is that there is always someone to call upon when needed. The family are close and will always support each other through the good and the bad times. 👨👩👧👦 How do you deal with large events such as Easter, Christmas etc. with so many of you working in the industry- do you choose another day to celebrate on? 👨👩👧👦 With so many working in hospitality we tend to find alternative dates over the holiday periods to celebrate as a family. This can sometimes prove a little bit challenging to orchestrate, however as we have always learnt, you need to make the time for your family as they will always be the ones there for you. I am sure that our parents would much prefer to be celebrating on Christmas Day with the whole family and remind me that I was the one that started everyone in the industry, however when we are together we more than make up for it, with 9 children and 14 grandkids, the celebrations always tend to be pretty big affairs, so we more than make up for it! #lifeatmab

One Night in Atlantic City: The Beauty of Long Dinners Last year at the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) Convention in Atlantic City, I texted several friends (John Brewster, Timothy Thrasher, Lance Coffman, Shawn Williams, Curtis Kelley, Dan Brower, Tony Christoforou, Tyler J. Riggs, Joshua Baugus, Joe Rodriguez) about having a fun night of dinner, conversation, and laughter. One friend even brought cigars for everyone. From a year full of fun and travel, this festive feast was one of my very favorite memories. It reminded me of the Tim Ferriss quote, "Have at least one 2-to-3-hour dinner and/or drinks per week—yes, 2–3 hours—with those who make you smile and feel good." So why hold your own big binges? We'll get to that. First, let's look at the risks for home inspectors: Lonely job. Most inspectors are solopreneurs or work for themselves under a bigger company. One can go days without personal interaction with friends. Lots of travel. Many residential inspectors, particularly early on, drive 3-5 hours a day for work. The same applies for many tradesmen. Long hours. Starting a business is arduous, thankless, quiet work. Why look first at hardships? Just remember - if we don't connect, we wither. So here's how big dinners - with family, friends, colleagues, or strangers - link us together: Foster social connection. For parents and children, husbands and wives, work colleagues, strangers, friends old and new, bountiful banquets are the glue of family ties and deep friendships. Build life quality. Large meals embody exactly what their members seek - a rich life. A full table, happy friends, lots of leisure time, food overflowing - these visualize and presence abundance, as real as our flesh and bone. Improve mental health. Large meals improve self-esteem and group functioning, while reducing felt stress, substance abuse, eating disorders, violence, and depression. Plus, they offer a safe place to talk about mental health. Schedule easily. Just pick a night (Sundays and Thursdays are popular), brainstorm the burly banquet, and invite away. Even the pre-discussion discussions can build anticipation. Our mission is human flourishing. It's why we partner with so many home inspectors, commercial inspectors, commercial assessment firms, architects, environmental engineers, and construction developers - eating lavish, colossal feasts all along the way. Come thrive with us. Eating together is one part of the path to healthier men, families, communities, and nations. https://lnkd.in/gdtfiXnp

🎄 The Best Christmas I Celebrated was Last Year… On the Ship! The holiday season on the high seas is different. No snow, no family gatherings, but plenty of sea breezes and camaraderie. Last year, I had the privilege of celebrating Christmas aboard, and honestly, it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had. It wasn't just about exchanging gifts or festive food, it was about crew participation and the genuine effort put in by everyone on board. Our captain, always the leader who puts crew welfare first, organized some fun Christmas games 🎉 – not your average “easy” games, mind you! It was a true morale booster and helped break the monotony of life at sea. I remember everyone getting involved – the cook, the engineers, the deck hands, even the most quiet members of the team came alive! It wasn’t just about winning games, but about building team spirit, having fun, and feeling like we were truly a part of something bigger than just “work.” Why this matters: 1️⃣ Crew Welfare is Paramount – When a leader makes the crew feel valued, everyone pulls together to ensure that not just the ship, but the spirit, is strong! 2️⃣ Good Leadership is Vital – The captain didn't just stop at good navigation; he navigated morale and camaraderie, too. 🙌 3️⃣ Team Spirit Trumps Everything – It's not about who’s “the best”; it's about how we work together that makes celebrations like this special. 4️⃣ Breaking the Monotony – Life at sea can sometimes feel like a never-ending loop. Celebrations like Christmas remind us that we are human and we can have fun, no matter where we are. 💫 To all the people at sea, this one’s for you. Here’s to more celebrations, better crew welfare, and leaders who care about the team. Cheers to the holidays, even if you're 1,000 nautical miles away from home! 🌊⚓ #ChristmasAtSea #CrewWelfare #LeadershipMatters #TeamSpirit #MaritimeLife #Seafarers #ShipLife #MoraleBoost #FestiveSeason #GoodLeadership

👇 This post grew my impressions by 1300%. Why? It's practically jibberish. Well, it's #relatable to my #targetaudience: other #workingparents. And maybe a little breathe of fresh air on this platform and talk about something other than ROI and lead gen. That can be so mid, bruh. #connections #marketing #personalbrand #makeitpersonal
If you aren’t adding: skibidi, gyat, skibidi Ohio toilet rizz, bruh, and my personal favorite SIGMA to your “languages spoken” after spending summer vacation with your kids… then you are a beta. Hang in their parents. 💪 #workingmom #workingparent #summervacation

🎅🎄🤶 Planning Ahead 🎅🎄🤶 It’s the middle of August, and I hope everyone is finding time to get away from the desk, relax and enjoy the best of the Irish summer!! But autumn is not too far away, and we all need to give some thought to the last quarter of the year and what we need to do. I’m glad to report to you that Santa is already doing that, and I’m proud to say that he’s tentatively offered me a job! Well actually, LinkedIn in has suggested a job for me - working as an elf in Santa’s production plant in Longford! LinkedIn has suggested some interesting jobs to me in the last month or so, but realistically, I don’t think this one’s for me, so I think I’ll take a pass. But seriously, it’s good to see that Santa is looking ahead, looking at what he needs to do, and is building a team around him to make sure he meets those important year-end deadlines. We could all take a leaf out of Santa’s book!! #yearend #deadlines #planning #teamwork
