The Hospital for Sick Children’s Post

Yalman was rushed to SickKids within an hour of his birth. Arriving two weeks premature, he was born with a number of complications and had trouble breathing on his own. He was the first ventilated patient in the country to undergo imaging in a NICU MRI. The Hospital for Sick Children is so proud to share that it is the first paediatric hospital in Canada to have a specialized neonatal MRI system inside its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For patients like Yalman, the installation of this system means reducing the risks associated with moving babies in critical condition, as they no longer need to be transported to the basement level of the Hospital and can now undergo imaging scans without ever leaving the NICU. We want to extend our sincerest thanks to the community of loyal and determined donors who, over the past decade, have never wavered in their commitment to making this innovation possible.
