🏆And the BAFTA goes to…! 🏆
Earlier this month we worked with BAFTA and Westminster City Council to host a skills event for students from schools in Westminster and the surrounding boroughs.
📽️ From choreography to #animation, the 15-18 year olds attended interactive sessions run by industry professionals on the #transferableskills needed for career opportunities in film, television and games.
This event was part of our ongoing partnership with independent arts charity #BAFTA to support skills development in the local community, hosted at 195 Piccadilly, the home of its year-round learning and talent development programmes.
Hi, I'm Lauren Layfield and I'm so excited to be back here with BAFTA and the Crown Estate for their Transferable Skills Day. Today we have brought together 215 to 18 year olds to talk about the screen industries and also about the transferable skills that they can use for any type of career. Hello and welcome to back. We got to learn about pitching. I mean we got to pitch our idea in front of the whole theatre and so that was really interesting. We went up on stage, the activity was really fun where we were. Creating our own like TikTok advertising idea. They just stood up there and were like, this is my idea, this is where it's going to be, this is how it's gonna work. And it was just incredible. I really quite liked hearing about how they got into the industry. I thought it was really interesting to hear from that he'd designer and how she came from like psychology and stuff. It was nice to see the background story. The key Skills Day is incredibly important to the Crown Estate and our partnership with BAFTA and of course with Westminster City Lions is an incredibly important partnership to see that the screen industries is such a huge sector. With so many opportunities. So it's brilliant that we can throw open our doors and welcome people in and give them the chance to learn about what we do. I feel like today really opened my eyes a bit more to the breadth and depth of jobs and opportunities that are in the industry. It just made me like like open my mind onto the sector cause it wasn't really something I thought of before. This is about us working together to support students as they look towards their future careers and if they're particularly good, maybe they'll even win BAFTA. It's good fun.
