🏠🏢 Safe, stable and appropriate housing is not only a basic right, but also a foundation for health. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) recently released their 'Closing the Gap education, employment and housing targets: key findings and implications' report. The report provides compelling evidence that addressing housing conditions, particularly increasing the proportion of people living in appropriately sized (not overcrowded) housing, is fundamental to preventing chronic disease and improving long-term health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. 🎧 In our podcast episode ‘How does housing affect our health?’ Professor Rebecca Bentley discusses the numerous ways in which population health could benefit if housing was improved in Australia. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gGGczfVk Professor Bentley is an epidemiologist from the University of Melbourne’s School of Population and Global Health and director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Healthy Housing.
