Being #ValentinesDay we thought you might love a The Aspinall Foundation love story 🧡 🩶 Valentine’s Love Story From The Jungle 🩶 🧡 Djongo the confident silverback stole Mayombe's heart from their first encounter back way back in 2020. Mayombe, a shy and gentle female, was clearly VERY impressed by Djongo’s macho displays and it was love at first sight. They’ve been joined at the hip ever since. On the day they were introduced, the pair spent their time feeding and resting together. We knew they were getting on well when the team spotted mating just hours after the initial introduction! In 2021, Mayombe gave birth to Djongo’s daughter, a beautiful little female named Taali. This was a huge milestone for the gorilla family and our team – Taali was the WORLD’S FIRST gorilla born in the wild to two captive-born parents. Fast forward to 2025 and Mayombe and Djongo are still inseparable and Taali has grown into quite the little hellraiser. These gorilla parents bringing up their offspring in the forests we protect, where she will never know captivity or threat, is the perfect example of our work. We could not be more proud of this family and are absolutely over the moon to celebrate their love with you this Valentine’s Day! The support we get from our corporate partners makes these stories happen, so THANK YOU #Conservation #Congo #Gabon #Gorillas #ThirdSector #Charity #Animals #Rewild #BackToTheWild
