Paul Weiss and other law firms making a deal with Trump have been vilified by alumni, associates and others in the legal community, with some claiming the deals invite further bullying of the legal industry. But others, including law firm chairs, say the deals make sense, considering what was at stake for each firm and what they say have been reasonable deal terms. “I would have done what they did,” one AmLaw200 firm leader said. “Unabiguously so. … the people who run these firms are the fiduciaries responsible for them.
