A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Well, this one tells a story that goes beyond what’s immediately visible. On the surface, it’s just a collection of bikes—lots of bikes—but there’s so much more to it. This image captures a week dedicated to culture and team building, a week spent connecting with colleagues I interact with daily—and in some cases, ones I’ve never even met in person. It’s also a snapshot of the exciting new innovations Litera is preparing to roll out in the near future—stay tuned! Beyond the bikes, it represents a heartfelt effort to support those in need through a community-building exercise. And, more than anything, it symbolizes the importance of human connection—the kind that happens when we get together, laugh, learn, and talk face-to-face. Let’s be real: as much as virtual meetings have their place, nothing beats the energy of real-world interactions. I’m deeply grateful to work for a company that not only supports my professional development, but also encourages personal growth. This experience has helped me reconnect with my “why” in all areas of my life. To my incredible leaders, peers, and friends—thank you for making work feel less like work and more like a community. Here’s to everything we’re going to accomplish in 2025!

"I wish my peers and colleagues knew..." As many of you know, I use this question as a pre-work for some of my keynotes. Over the last few weeks, I can't tell you the number of times, "I don't always have it all together," has come up. Reading the hundreds of responses to this single question always makes me pause. In a world that often highlights success + achievement, it's important to remind ourselves and each other that it’s perfectly OK not to have it all together all the time and to also continue redefining success + achievement on our own terms. As professionals, we strive for efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration. However, it's so important to foster an environment where empathy is at the core of our interactions. You never know what someone else is going through, and even though they may appear to be strong, as one respondent said for a keynote I am doing this week, "I would like to be checked in on, too." Check in on your strong friends/peers/colleagues/students...that's what I'll be doing this week.

Small Wins, Big Results! In our busy office, I had a big problem keeping our company energy positive as we got more people. It was essential to make sure every worker felt special and listened to. At first, our team was like a small family, all working together because we liked the same things and wanted the same goals. But as we grew more prominent, I worried we might lose how close we were. So, I wanted to make everyone on the team feel powerful. As we became more successful, I started to fear that we might drift apart. But then I decided to make sure everyone on the team felt strong and important. We started by allowing everyone to easily express their ideas, worries, and new thoughts. That helped us talk better and ensured everyone felt like they were part of the team. We also started a program to celebrate when people did good things, no matter how big or small. Saying thank you and cheering each other on helped us feel good and want to do even better. Over time, our office changed. It became more than just a place to work; it became a team where everyone felt important and needed to succeed. We trusted each other more and helped each other out, so we became even closer. Because we worked hard, we didn't just keep our unique company spirit alive; we made it even better. As a People Leader, I still ensure these things are essential to our company, where everyone loves what they do and works together to win. Share your thoughts in the comments!

True and deep connections are the key to high performing teams and organisations. Hopefully this is not a surprise for anyone, BUT... How many conscious actions do we take to ensure that we connect with our peers at work, and even with our relatives and friends? Last month, as part of our Strategy Day, we invested a moment to run a 'social experiment' among ourselves: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧? In small groups, we were given few minutes to respond to each question: 1st round 🆗 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮? was easily answered sharing generic information, and most of us referred to work, how busy we are, etc. It was hard to keep talking to fill the timebox offered. 2nd round ❤️ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲? changed the game completely. Each one of us was sharing insightful memories and experience, both personal and professional, but mostly personal. It was tough for the facilitator to bring us back to the main group cause everyone was eager to know more about each other. Well, can you 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? Thanks Lion and DDT for welcoming me to be part of our incredible #ONETeam. Thanks Melissa Seeto Alison Hinkson (Sinclair) Ram Kalyanasundaram Robb Simpson and rest of the DDT leadership team. 🙌

In the fast-paced world of staffing, it’s easy to get caught up chasing the big wins like closing a major deal, onboarding a large client, or hitting those quarterly targets. But recently, I’ve been reflecting on the small wins that truly drive progress. ✨ A quick check-in with a client that leads to valuable feedback. ✨ A candidate expressing gratitude for finding the right opportunity. ✨ A colleague stepping up to solve a challenge before it even becomes one. These moments might seem small, but they’re the heartbeat of long-term success. They build trust, foster relationships, and remind us that at the end of the day, we’re in the business of people, helping them grow, connect, and thrive. So, here’s my question to you: What small win are you celebrating this week?
