They say you should work with someone similar to you.
But my co-founder and I couldn’t be more opposite.
For starters…
I’m dog obsessed → Anna has no desire to get a dog.
I love the film, Anchorman → Anna has never seen it. (Travesty I know!🤦♀️)
My French is A-level at best and I hardly use it → Anna grew up in Italy and speaks fluent Italian!
And honestly, the list could just go on…
It is clear that we have quite a few differences.
But on the stuff that matters, we couldn’t be more aligned…
Our drive.
Our values.
Our outlook.
Our work ethic.
So although we are different in so many ways.
↳ We have built a business based on our shared values which weren’t just plucked out of thin air. We genuinely believe in them and are the guiding principles that drive our business and what we do.
And that is how we have managed to create a great partnership.
The moral of the story?
Great partnerships aren’t built on liking the exact same things.
Instead, they are built on shared values, morals, work ethic and drive.
So, don’t sell yourself short for being different.
If you have the will and drive to do what it takes to become successful, that will make the real difference in your team.
