When Harald Schirmer asked me to contribute to the first "Global Virtual Welcome Day" at Continental I spontaneously said "Yes" and then starting to think wbout: what?!.. And then more intensively, what shall I?!... What is interesting to know from the very beginning when starting a new job?! *** What would be the message to myself as a new hire?! 1️⃣ Your are wanted! When somebody is joining a new team, there have been a long journey before: raising the need for a new position, discussing and aligning on the profile, searching for best fit, etc, etc.. A team, an organization, a whole company wants exactly you to join forces with them! 2️⃣ You are not alone! As you are embarquing the new jouney, you might feel afraid of all the unknown stuff and ambitious golas might seem unrealistic. But you know what?! There are - in our case at Continental 200000 people willing to help and support! Just ask for support as you need! 3️⃣ You will become! Typically we are starting new jobs. What really starts - or continues - is not a job but rather a becoming process. We are growing beyond jobs, we might wish a job, what we really get is a wonderful gift of personal growth. *** I wish all colleagues joing Continental and the first Global Virtual Welcoming Day a wonderful journey ahead, our paths will certainly cross again! 🍀🧡

Recently I had the chance to go out of my comfort zone and participate on the #onboarding for the METRO Markets GmbH November #newjoiners by providing some impressions and company insights. I loved the questions my new colleagues asked and the exchange we achieved thanks to this. It was absolutely rewarding, enjoyable and I learned new things: ✅ Prepare and make yourself knowledgeable with the topic ✅ Adapt to the audience: make things understandable ✅ Do not go too deep in detail. Keep things simple ✅ Provide tools and sources where the audience can deep dive in a topic if there is further interest ✅ Make breaks. Allow time for working the new information and maybe feedback/questions will arise 💡 Keep the presentation to 15-20 minutes, if possible.
