Aurrigo International plc’s Auto-DollyTug, a zero emission, all-electric baggage and cargo tractor, was awarded one of FTE Americas Innovate’s biggest awards last week. A high-profile judging panel – which included Raza Ail, International Airlines Group (IAG); Manuel van Lijf, nlmtd; and Heathrow’s Steve Armitage – said it was impressed with the manoeuvrability of the vehicle and the forward-thinking approach to connect the automation from within the baggage hall through drop off underwing to a jumbo container and pallet loader (JCPL). The robotic arms, which Aurrigo said have never been seen on an airside tug before, have demonstrated operational, cost and environmental benefits, and proved decisive when overcoming the strong challenge of Gameway, Foundations, DataArt and Kquika. “This is another massive vote of confidence for our technology and how we are trying to implement one of the aviation sector’s biggest innovations for more than 40 years,” Aurrigo International’s Tenille Houston, who had to conduct a live pitch to the judges and event audience, said in a statement. “Auto-DollyTug is one element of our vision to bring Intelligent Ground Support Equipment (iGSE) to the sector and this encompasses a suite of advanced, integrated technologies designed to enhance operational performance and streamline airside activities." Nordic USV Books HydroSurv’s Newly Launched USV Nordic USV and HydroSurv have extended their partnership with a 60-month lease agreement for the newly launched HydroSurv’s REAV-47 uncrewed surface vehicle (USV). This agreement follows Nordic USV's first year with the REAV-28 USV Nordy, which has demonstrated the capabilities and potential of uncrewed surface vehicles in the maritime industry. The REAV-47 USV is expected to further enhance Nordic USV's operations and services, providing a robust and reliable solution for various applications. “Archer Completes Construction of Covington Manufacturing Facility” Archer Aviation announced this week it has received “the certificate of occupancy for its high-volume manufacturing facility, ARC, which is connected to the Covington Municipal Airport in Georgia,” reports a press release. “Archer is now working to complete the tooling load-in for the initial manufacturing line at this facility.” Production is planned to start early next year, with the goal of ramping to a rate of two aircraft per month by the end of 2025.
