💞Thinking of giving back this year? Why sell appreciated stock when you could donate it? If you’ve held onto stocks for over a year, donating them to a tax-qualified charity could allow you to deduct the fair market value on your taxes and may help the charity avoid capital gains tax. This option could potentially make a bigger impact than a cash donation! 🙋🏻♂️ Charitable donations can offer significant tax relief for individuals and businesses. Understanding these benefits can encourage more people to support charitable causes while also gaining financial advantages. 🎁 How Does Gift Aid Work? 👉 Gift Aid is a scheme allowing charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, effectively increasing the amount of the donation by 25%. 👉 To make a Gift Aid donation, you must have paid UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that all the charities and community amateur sports clubs claim on your donations in that tax year. 🧩 For example, if you donate £100, the charity can claim an extra £25, making your donation £125. #taxrelief #charitabledonations #uktaxpayers #giftaid

In the UK, if you’re a business, did you know that when you donate to charity, you could get a little something back from the taxman? When your business makes donations to qualifying charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs), you can often claim tax relief on those donations. That means some of the tax you paid on those donations could come back to you. Also, don’t forget about Gift Aid. When your business donates through Gift Aid, charities can claim an extra 25p for every pound you donate, making your contribution even more impactful. There are some rules and conditions you need to know about, so it's wise to have a chat with your accountant or tax advisor to make sure you’re getting the most out of your donations. #CharityDonations #TaxAdvice #SmithNewmans

Question for my legal friends: 1. There is a CIC that is representing itself as a charity and not a non-profit. It is not registered under the Charity Commission. 2. It is registered with Companies House in 2021 but its last accounts return is as a dormant company even though it is clearly trading and has been for over a year at least now. 3. The only registered statutory director is the 80 y/o mother of the founder who is actively running the company. 4. It takes donations from businesses and encourages followers to subscribe for £2 a month to help the cause. Is there a legal explanation for this or is it a bit suspect?

🎗️Corporate claims for charitable donations🎗️ When a limited company makes charitable donations specific rules apply. These may include Corporation Tax relief for donations to registered charities or community amateur sports clubs (CASC). However, the rules are different if the company is given something in return for making a donation, such as tickets for an event.
