In celebration of Engineer's Week, we recognize Daryl D. Schauer, P.E., a Professional Engineer licensed in Texas and Colorado, for his outstanding contributions during his five years at SurvWest. Notably, he successfully managed the recent rehabilitation of Runway 17R/35L at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, completed in Fall 2024. This runway measures 13,400 feet in length and 200 feet in width, and it was completed ahead of schedule with no recorded safety incidents. As the Senior Project Manager, Daryl oversaw all SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) tasks, including project record management, field designations, survey file production, vehicle Airport Operations Area (AOA) permitting, AOA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badging, and ROCIP screening and safety training for company staff. Daryl faced the challenge of minimizing taxiway and runway closures and reducing impacts on existing airport operations. He addressed these challenges by coordinating SUE Quality Level A/B field designating and test hole staff with SUE Quality Level A/B field survey staff simultaneously when access to necessary SUE fieldwork areas was unavoidable. We are grateful for Daryl's contributions to the essential role that engineers play in our lives. #engineering #engineers #engineersweek #dfw #dfwairport
